My Review

Main Gameplay

I liked the game for the most part. Everyone's mechanic felt unique and kept me interested in the game, except for Minnie. Minnie to me felt non-existent; I don't think she even killed me throughout the main story, except for custom night challenges. However, one major criticism I do have is that some jump scares don't feel scary enough. To me, the jump scares should be unexpected, loud, and short. The unexpected and loud parts, I'd say, don't pass my first two marks. [SPOILER] With Pandora, Henry, Mortimer, and even Lost Hourglass entering the front/back doors. It leaves some of the scare factor gone; however, I don't know if removing these animations changes the gameplay entirely.

Extra Trials [SPOILER]

Night 13 was fun. My only complaint is that the explanation for dealing with Jason behind felt messy and confusing (but that is something I'd wait for other people to complain about because I have a slow learning time, and I feel that could be a me issue). Memory Night was a really fun callback experience. I have no complaint about this mode, except for hard mode. (Minor issue) I felt hard mode should've had some way to know Slester would be in it as well. Mortimare and Dual Boss were fun nights, no complaint from me on those. For Mortimatum, it became frustrating and unfun for me to complete due to my obvious skill issue, so I didn't complete it.

Custom Night [PARTIAL SPOILER]

I liked the challenges. SpacebarCam7. SpacebarCam7 was a fun challenge because of how the office is dark and how it utilizes your memory of the office details. I like the bonus characters too, especially the inclusion of Cult, Lost Hourglass, Hourglass, and Mac Tonight. I haven't completed all of the challenges, but they have been fun, except for Spring Trapped. Spring Trapped is the bane of my existence for the moment. Also, I would appreciate an option bar for Living Nightmare mode regarding the BGM. I like the BGM, but I reckon that some other people want to focus more on the game's audio and visuals rather than music.

Final Opinion

Even though the game isn't perfect, the gameplay was fun and memorable with the main story and extra game modes, and custom night. I hope this game will continue to improve.

After playing for some time, I really like the game! It's fun with fast gameplay and cool jump-scares as well. That being said I have a few issues with the game (mainly the extra content, also don't read if you haven't played the game yet). I've also sprinkled in some positives in here since a bit of it is spoiler stuff so yeah, also again don't read until you've played the game.

The first thing I wanna say is that for one: I've been playing this mode for at least two hours and two: Mori (who I'll be calling to save time) can skip rooms and if unlucky can just appear in your office without a chance to do anything or is able to move after just being moved or it's both, I had a run where I sent him back to cam 06 only for him to spawn on cam 02 and then moved again to kill me off which is again cheep. I'm also just not a big fan of how much the game is milking the Mori fight for extra content, I understand having a night 6 sort of thing with Mortimare but having the player fight him and Jasion in the same night and THEN having the player fight him in a harder night is ridiculous.

Another thing I don't understand/don't like is the inclusion of "Memory Night Hard mode", I really liked the Memory Night mode and I'll be honest felt like it was a fine addiction to the game to begin with already, it feels like this mode was added for the sake of it and for another reason (I'll get to it) rather then a considered mode to the game which is disappointing.

While still on the subject on extra content, I don't like how odd it is to unlock some characters (manly due to the extra trials). night 13 and Memory Night are good ideas to include character unlocks but the rest of the Extra trials are not due to you needing to fight Mori 3 more times and with one of them Jasion tag along with him. I wish the character unlocks were tied a lot more to the CN since you get access to that at the start of the game which allows you to experiment on characters you don't know, so having the player only unlock 2 characters by the custom night is not only disappointing but feels like the triple fights with Mori and the hard mode for MN were only added for players to unlock characters and nothing more. Sometimes less is more and in this case I think true here, the game shouldn't have milked the Mori fight so much and should've ether replaced or remove the hard mode of MN for something else because this imo is not it.

Something positive for a second, I love the characters you chose for the games exclusives for the game:

Lost Hourglass, Cult, Hellbound Mickey and Undead Oswald are great picks to chose from and I'm happy that they're in the game so that's nice. Idk who the others are in the game but I'm sure they're good too... Expect Shade Goofy.

I'm really sorry but I don't think this was a great look for him and in fact looks bad, he doesn't even look like a shade at all and more so a rapper ready to dis some body or sum. Maybe you could've done Shade Undying or better yet maybe make his design based on what the creepypasta was (the rake) and give him big claws and teeth and stuff idk.

Now onto the main gameplay, this will be short as the only two issues I have is PHM due to how RNG ridden he is. If your looking Gascot and you miss his spawn (cam 03 burr) then tough shit go back to the start of the night, it also doesn't help that when Pandora is on cam 02 and PNM is there you have to close that twice due to that camera being different compared to the others which can kill your run if your focus on Undying or Henry or someone else (I brought this up before but deleted the comment due to my issues with Sadie being solved).

Another thing that's positive, I love the refences to other fnati games like The Revenge, NBD 2016 (maybe 2015 idk), the Lost one's Truth book from the canned TLO'S 3 game and even character easter eggs too. Love this type of thing and was a treat to see them on screen.

And I think that's it, I'm sorry if this was a long one but I've been having fun playing this game despite all I've said and truth be told has placed itself as one of my favorite fan games to have come out this year (like top 10 at least). It doesn't look good to you, does it? Ever since your memory loss, the art you've made has lost its charm. Drawing is difficult. Your executives aren't pleased with your current work, so they gave you a week off in the private vacation cabin on their abandoned island, giving you time to practice until you regain your magic touch. A week of peace and quiet, with the simple objective of relearning.

But things have changed from the last time you were here.

The Lost Ones: Persistence sure is an oddity. Basing on an old cancelled The Lost Ones reboot (TLO being a series originally created by Malrat), while erasing all the questionable parts that made that game infamous. Putting the assets to a good use, you could say.

The game has a 5-nights campaign with its own story, as well as an extensive custom night. with its own progression. The custom night itself is unlocked from the beginning, most of the campaign is optional if you aren't interested. Finding early stages of the game too easy? Well, you can easily challenge yourself, and skip the easy parts, getting faster to the good stuff if you yourself are good enough.

If you know about what the "cancelled The Lost Ones reboot" was, you might be concerned about the story or even some gameplay elements.
But worry not, as the parts of the game considered bad on average were all overhauled. The story has been altered to keep the interesting parts intact while avoiding being somewhat of a laughing stock. Mechanics from the original game that would've been a pain to deal with were also changed.
