OVERALL
TALE of the SALESMAN is a non-profitable fan-made crossover of two games, one is the popular RPG “Deltarune: Chapter 2” and the other is the not-so-popular point-and-click adventure “Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle”
The story itself is set after the events of Day of the Tentacle, 1997, but also before the events of Deltarune chapter 2, 2021 (yes, there is time travel involved).
You may be thinking that this crossover is one of the weirdest ideas ever to be shown in the Deltarune fandom… well, you’re goddamn right!...
THE STORY
The stereotypical nerd, Bernard Bernoulli, found a book on his porch, brought by a pet hamster, who belonged to Dr. Fred, his old “friend”. He didn’t want to go back to Fred’s mansion but he also didn’t want to hold Fred’s possessions so he came to return the book, only to find that Fred went missing. The only thing there was a special door that leads to mysterious places, he didn't want to get into any trouble again but he just doesn't have the heart to leave Fred to die (even though Fred hates him) so he entered the door and fell into the black void… then he found himself in the CYBER WORLD!
During his trip through the trash zone to the city, he confronts an odd-looking salesman who goes by the name Stan Spamton G Spamton.
Spamton promises Bernard that if he can do something for him, Spamton can send Bernard back to his own world.
You can just tell that Bernard is having a bad feeling about it…
THE CHARACTERS
Bernard Bernoulli
You'd be expecting an edgy warrior with the looks of a final fantasy character? Guess again... You're stuck with this weenie!
Straight from the year 1997 (five years after his last visit to the Edison mansion) Bernard is the stereotypical nerd you normally find in University (which he won an award for his geekiness).
He’s very intelligent, uses long sentence structures to describe certain objects, and can repair almost anything but he is very naive and can get easily frightened.
He was both excited about entering a world full of futuristic technology set in the modern times but is also frightened about what kind of trouble he might get himself into.
"Well, what possible harm could one insane mutant tentacle do?"
Character created by Ron Gilbert & Gary Winnick
Dr. Fred Edison
Once a villain, now an Ally, Dr. Fred Edison is a retired physician, a stereotypical mad scientist with a lab in the basement, the owner of the Edison Mansion, a husband and father, and an inventor with crazy ideas that go horribly wrong. He knew Bernard for years yet he wishes he hadn’t ever since Bernard broke into his home twice to rescue a damsel, ruin the plans of a sentient meteor, stop a disembodied tentacle from taking over, and save the world… which Fred had to pay for the property damage afterwards.
"Step one: Find plans, Step two: Save world, Step three: Get out of my house!"
He was once a millionaire but after he forgot to sign a contract to a game company (in which his family took part in the production), he started to lose millions and transformed his mansion into a run-down hotel.
While the rest of the Edison Family were on holiday one weekend, Fred accidentally fell into the void after opening the strange door, just hours before Bernard came to give Fred’s book back to him.

SERIEL NO. Q5U4EX7YY2E9N ("Queen")
As you guessed without any hint, she's the Queen of the cyber world! Even though she's the ruler of such a futuristic city, she's a very air-headed and egotistical person who plans to control people in order to make them happy...? She often laughs in a distinguished manner, uses internet acronyms and adds a lot of memes into her work... which both Bernard and Fred don't understand in the slightest.
She also wanted to capture both Bernard and Fred to turn them into robots slaves peons.
"I Do Sincerely Quite Like You Two... It Will Be A Shame To Force You To Serve Me... An Enjoyable Shame"
She does very much care for her servants, actually, but Bernard and Fred still passed on the opportunity... which in all reality, wasn't a question.
She also seems to forget Bernard and Fred's names every time they walk off-screen, and frankly, she also doesn't care... but then again, nobody in the city (except Spamton) remembers their names at all.
Character created by Toby Fox
Spamton G. Spamton
The man who promised Bernard to take him back home... or did he?
He's a very unusual salesman who's deals are either nonsensical or violent, and he speaks in uppercase with ads and spam emails in-between his lines.
Bernard seems to see him as not much of a threat ever since he met insane people before (like his housemate Laverne, who's a med student) but deep down, Spamton is not like the people Bernard met, he's somehow even more insane.

Very deep backstory isn't it?

Q&A
Q: Out of all the games out in the world like Cuphead for example, Why did you choose one of the least popular?
A: Day of the Tentacle was one of my childhood games and I still love it to this day! I kept seeing fangames and mods of Deltarune crossed with FnF (which is very frustrating and annoying) but Day of the Tentacle is the type of game genre where you can add stories, characters, jokes and most importantly puzzles! Beat that!
Q: Why does the game look cartoony instead of RPG styled?
A: Cause it isn't going to be a copy-and-paste thing like what other Deltarune fan projects do, most of the characters and areas are going to be redesigned to have a fresh, vivid feel to it. Besides, I'm going to redesign them in a way that seems cartoony but I also don't want them to feel alienated. Also, the cartoon art style pretty much stands out when it's compared to other Deltarune fangames.
Q: Will there be voice acting involved?
A: I'm not sure to be honest, it will be difficult to gather the right voice actors (Especially if I'm not gonna pay them).
Q: Is the power of love involved?
A: No, it's not involved, I legally don't own the rights to that song.
Q: Would you smooch a ghost?
A: I will heavily answer yes cause I am a fan of the undead spirits that roam the earth due to having unfinished business. I was even thinking of taking one out on a date sometime but I don't have the social skills to achieve that goal.
Q: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
A: Ask the woodsmith
Q: Who starched my socks?
A: Ask Edna
Q: What is Papyrus' favourite food?
A: Ask Flowey
Q: What is your favourite colour?
A: Blue... wait...
INFORMATION
This fangame is obviously not canon, so there won't be any proper links between either Day of the Tentacle or Deltarune made by the creators.
This game is going to be treated as an AU so I can have more creative freedom in the production.
