This game appears to have so much depth to it and have an open world rather in the style of Elite or Wing Commander Privateer, which I think is both a blessing and a curse.
Even when reading the player guide, I felt rather lost. Took me ages to just get to the point where I could actually travel the galaxy map. I wish I could have a better idea of what I was doing to do justice to the epic scope of your game.
*update: it crashes when visiting the Trading post for some reason on Fabularium. Will update this comment, if i find out how to fix this. The PC version has no issue with that. So at this point in time its not recommended to play using Fabularium, unfortunately.
For those who don't have Windows. This game can be played on an Android through a free app called 'Fabularium' a IF interterper which also supports other IF engines too. Note: i haven't extensively tested my game on it aside from checking it runs on the apps.
After installing Fabularium and have downloaded my game blorb (which will save itself in your downloads folder on device)
Open Fabularium and go to Explore
Then tap the back button to go out of Fabularium's folder to main folder where you can see Download folder and you will find it in there.
Select Blorb file and then..
Then press the 3 dot icon top right for drop down options as shown in above image and choose Add Game to List (auto).
Then tap Play button next to explore to see it in the library then choose the game. Unfortunately only the first half of the filename is shown 'GameJam2019_The' i will sort this out when i have fixed some minor bugs in future and rename it.
Fabularium supports images and sound.
Unfortunately I couldn't play the game. While it has a Linux runtime they have made it rather hard to use. I also tried the Windows version through WINE which crashed on startup.
Maybe he objectives could be given to the player an other way. Because if you don't pay attention to the monologue (because you try to play the game), you can miss some pretty required information.
"Captain Pearson is a Salvager through and through and always gets the job done. The Captain owes a favor to a friend, a friend who saved his life many years ago and now needs help. A freighter belonging to the company of his friend has been missing for a good couple of months, its transponder had turned off midway though its journey. It's last known system it was passing through was the Myrido System. He wishes to know what happened to it and retrieve its black box if possible."
This game is part management, part CYOA, part parser. There are derelicts to find and salvage and asteroid clusters to mine for ore- from which you can fabricate repair parts to boost your repair stock. Space stations to visit to refuel and sell your salvage and ore with random events happening through out the game.
The game is for the Adventure 2019 GameJam. After 2 weeks it is playable and has an ending. Its a bit rough around the edges here and there. I will be fixing some minor bugs.
To play my game download the Adrift Interpreter from
Choose Adrift Runner 5.0 (note your anti-virus might think its a virus but its not)
