I'm encountering a problem where the "I Confirm" button when creating your character sheet isn't appearing. The whole menu where that button should be just isn't showing up. The whole bottom part of the sheet seems to be missing.
After playing for a while my initial review is that I'm getting the impression that this is an idle game/pay to play. Even if this is totally not what you're going for here's why I think this:
You're using up one of two things: Health, or Turns. The only way to get back health is to pay for it, and, if you're just starting out, or if you're not sure what to initially invest in, you can not have enough money to keep getting your health back. This means you're going to have to wait to get health back. This is a tactic used by free-to-play games to encourage you to pay real life money to get health back. If it isn't health it's turns. What's the point of having turns if health is going to limit you from playing? It seems turns act as health except every action is 1:1 unlike health, but you can't seem to get turns back except wait. The game keeps telling me to keep making moves and do successful actions, but every time I do the game makes me stop and wait.
Another thing that makes me believe this game is trying to become a browser pay to play game is how you have to login to an account on a browser only game. You did mention that all data collected is on a player's own computer, but that's counter-intuitive since if a player is only using their computer to play then no one but them would login to their account. Another issue is why would a user's login be their email? Why not just have them create a username? The only useful thing these elements together would do is if a player's account was on a server, and the email was used to contact that account owner for newsletters or credit/debit card information.
If you're not trying to make an idle/pay to play game then, even though you've said that you're trying to creating a crime sim game where things take time, the current gameplay forces players to play for 10 minutes then go do something else like an idle game would. Creating a crime sim game will cause players to wait for things to happen yes, but taking an action itself is instant, and waiting for health to come back is real-time; it's totally inconsistent. If you are trying to make an idle game then that's fine, but you haven't said that was your goal, and there's not current way of using real world money to buy items to keep playing.
That aside I can't progress in the game enough to give my thoughts on how well-done the gameplay is. I just need more time on that.
American Villainy is a point & click RPG/Sim where you are able to commit an expansive number of crimes of various types in order to increase your cash, reputation and standing within criminal organizations. All the while keeping the heat of your rivals and the cops as low as possible.
With the addition of the new story line, your player is able to expand their criminal activity to new cities that change the dynamic of how crimes play out.
Once your dealer feels that you are ready, you can deal various drugs from city to city in an attempt to increase your cash flow, but keep an eye on the pressure from the cops looking for you.
As in real life, once you've pushed your luck too far chances are you are going to have a fatal encounter. And when your game is over, it is over. There is no second chance in American Villainy.
