What do you think?

I made a video of your game if you want to take a look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NamgXDf5rLA

Talk about copy and paste

Authentic Castlevania feel. Congrats!

I liked it. Good work. 4/5

This was an alright game. My biggest problem is the graphics. It does look good and retro, but some more work could have gone into it. The main character really kinda just looks like a shirtless Simon Belmont. Some shading on the torso would have looked a lot better and less "blocky." Another problem with the graphics is the level tiles. There is nothing truly wrong with them, it's just that they would have popped better if you used more color. For instance, the first and third Castlevania games on the NES often had dark blue background elements and made the tiles you could interact with bright orange. I feel this game would have left a bigger impression if it was vibrant and colorful, but still moody like the official Castlevania. Personally, I thought the scanlines were kinda gratuitous, as well. An option to turn them off would have been nice.

Still, it plays splendidly. It controls much like the old NES Castlevania, but actually feels less stiff. The awkward jumping arcs and delayed attacks are still here, but they actually work in the game's favor, as the game's entire design is based on this and is well implemented, giving the true Castlevania feel. Also, as small of a change as some may say it is, the sword is actually a really refreshing addition. Slicing through foes above and in front of you is really satisfying, even compared to the whip from the actual Castlevania. The items you would expect are back in this as well, and they function just fine. Overall, it's a darn solid game with well-implemented controls and a decent soundtrack.

Randomly generated Barbarians hate Mages almost as much as they love gold. Whilst questing, a Barbarian learns of a tower in which lives a particularly rich Necromancer. Kill the Necromancer, get the treasure!

Old-school Nintendo hard mechanics in the vein of the early Castlevania games.
