Telling this game is fantastic is not enought!
Shoko for best girl!)
in all seriousness, though, this game is fantastic and is very professionally made - the options menu is extensive and player-friendly, the game looks GORGEOUS and alive, especially once you get past the intro - not many games have woodland animals running around and having them just makes the game all the more immersive!) the day and night cycle and the carefully crafted locations along with the clouds having shadows add to that feel) and the music might just be the best part of the game - Ben, you're a real composer and it shows - the melodies in the game sound soothing when needed and dynamic when they have to - the sound design is just as good, too!) all in all, this was a joy to play, and, even more so, to look and listen to) marvelous job, Ben Ross!
although, there are still some small problems with the game that you better take notes for if you plan on making any new rpg maker games - firstly, some events (mainly those that look "magical") don't have the Direction Fix box checked and because of that change their color depending on from what direction you interact with them - some woodland animals/wandering npc's may get in your way and stop you from progressing because of their random behavior - while, yes, they do go out of the way eventually, still, would be better if they had a certain path that strayed away from the road) other than that, no qualms about the game - and even so, those mentioned problems aren't that big of a deal)
P.S: (also what sprite did you use for the fox is it from MV or a dlc? just asking))
Chosen was probably the best quality RPG Maker game I've played! Good music, mapping, although I do have a couple issues
there we're a lot of spots (mainly in the desert) where i could go on or in something I shouldn't be able to. Here's all the spots I found:
I'd suggest adding events or something to prevent this. Also the game felt kind of felt like it was under some pretty large time constraints because the areas look great, but the content in them felt lacking. Like 90% of the NPCs I can't talk to and if i can, their a shopkeeper or a story character. And the things that did move a lot were the animals.
BUT THE MUSIC WAS ON PAR.
(very much the best part of the game)
Nix's battle theme was def my favorite. It has that feeling of Shoko's confusion of not understanding what's going but a determination to get through it!
But yeah, wish I could explore/spend more time in each area. (especially the underwater kingdom.) I mean you could've added battles with things like piranhas or angler fish in the water and scorpions in the desert or somethin idk.
But overall, good game, good story, good areas, alright characters,
8/10
I just finished the game and I can say it is amazing! Loved the mapping, the OST ( Specially the Bapho battle song) and the way you executed all the events. The game is more appealing than most of the games posted on the online community forums. Highly recommended!
Can't wait for the next one!
This game looks amazing! I highly recommend releasing the game at rpgmaker.net.
Chosen is the story of a girl who decides to leave her home planet to answer a mysterious call for help on another world.Â
The game is made in RPG Maker MZ and is reminiscient of top-down turn-based rpgs from the GBA era. The game is about 1-2 hours long and features over 30 original songs.
As an avid gamer and music composer, I've always wanted to compose for games. It's a tough industry to break into though, especially if you have not worked on titles before. That's why I decided to create a game myself. The original intention behind making this game was to just be a music and sound design reel but I got carried away in an attempt to make a good game.Â
