Crevis is a sandbox game that can be stretched to the limits with machines, which are capable of mining, processing, and storing information. Build endlessly creative contraptions and structures, and explore the rich and diverse solar system crafted through procedural generation. Bored of your own planet? No problem! Lift off into space with customizable rockets and land on a planet of your choosing. There are also various bosses, or ultimate enemies, that reside on each of the planets.
Crevis aims to provide a very immersive and malleable environment. Through the use of complex machinery, circuitry, and advanced tools, you may bend the star system to your will. There are many machines in Crevis that can be used to produce and carry out tasks. Some of these machines include:
Refinery
Saw Mill
Pulverizer
Crucible
Crucible Caster
Extractor
Liquid Infuser
Nano-Constructor
Circuit-Constructor
Quarry (mines out a certain area along with its resources)
Interactor (allows for automating machines)
There are many ways to power machines in Crevis. The unit of power is the fibrawatt, which can be created through various generators. Generators include:
Solid-fuel generators
Nuclear power plants
Turbines
Hydro-wheels
Solar panels
Energy can be stored within batteries.
First of all, I'd like to address why there's no lighting in the trailer. I upgraded to GameMaker 2 and, when I ported the game from GameMaker Studio, the lighting broke.
Farming
Machinery
NPCs
Villages
Customizable rockets
Power generation
Bosses for every planet
Lore
Randomly generated loot
Metalworking
Weaponry
Various monsters
I will be posting announcements and blog posts constantly to share when features are completed. We have a development schedule on our website
When I first began Crevis, I didn't really have a vision and I was still getting used to GameMaker: Studio. If you'd like, you can view the full Crevis development playlist so that you can clearly track the growth in my skills as a programmer and artist.
In the full Crevis playlist, a low-quality and messy version of Crevis can be observed. That was years ago, before I began the ground-up rewrite of the game, which I began in March 2017.
Upon first looking at the game, Crevis looks similar to Starbound, Terraria, and maybe to some, Minecraft. While Crevis has many similarities to these games, it also has a multitude of differences.
Crevis is based around machinery
Crevis has many different machines that can carry out different tasks, which require fibrawatt power. None of the three games share this trait.
Crevis has several planets
While Starbound may have planets, they are all procedurally generated with traits that are procedurally generated. Crevis's planetary traits are hand-crafted. Some areas of the planet are also hand-crafted, and there are bosses for each planet as well, providing a rich experience wherever your interstellar travels take you.
Crevis has a deep, integrated story
Starbound may have an underlying story that it tells through quests and various missions, but Crevis's story is integrated with more subtlety - the story is revealed through exploration, boss fights, and NPCs, allowing for a more natural storytelling experience.
I plan to release the game mid-2018 if everything goes well!
