What do you think?

If some of the textures seem blurry, try restarting the game. Its a bug that has to do with the plugins I use for Dead Carnival, which may take a while for me to fix.

Dead Carnival is a purgatory-like carnival you must destroy for a better afterlife, inspired by Mind The Clown.

Note: If you come across Dead Carnival on anything except Itch.io or GameJolt, do not trust it as it has not been posted by me.

Any and all story/lore is intentionally vague, and open for interpretation.

Dead Carnival is an indie horror game set in a purgatory-like carnival where you must survive, manage HP and stamina, complete tasks, and wander the confusing layout of the carnival, meanwhile a clown entity lurks in the thick, red fog in hopes of catching at least one more soul.

Mechanics:

  • Manage your stamina as it only drains while moving.

  • Complete night-specific tasks before the clock hits 6:00am.

  • Avoid the clown at all times; only sprint when needed, this causes too much noise.

  • Remember, you are not in control. You are simply here to fight for something important

Backstory:

The Dead Carnival is one passed down through many folklore, thought to be a made up thing to scare people away from suicide. However, when a team of people investigated it only to be found dead within a matter of weeks, nothing added up anymore. It is commonly said that all the "scary" factors adjust to your fears or weaknesses. For example, if It's foggy its said to represent "foggy" memory and/or slurred speech from being drunk. There's many obstacles described about the Dead Carnival. Poisoned food, an entity that resembles a deep fear, and the fact that the carnival is said to feel like a maze. Whether this is all true or not is not yet revealed to the public, and likely never will.

Huge shout-out to Mind The Clown by Coast City Games as it is a huge inspiration for this whole project.
