It is a fine game indeed! You did a great job at replicating an atari-800 game, though I have not played the original Draconus. However, the graphics (original or not) are gorgeous. The atmosphere is spot on, too. I really like the jumping for some reason.
However, your level has quite a lot of stairs, and it'd be more convenient if you were able to, say, walk into the stair and automatically climb up it if it was low enough. Also, the 'GAME OVER, MAN!' was pretty startling. Maybe you should be able to crouch for longer than 1 second. I really don't find the difficulty too bothersome, it's just my preference.
The gameplay needs to be improved. The pixel art is good (I hope you didn't steal it.) and the idea looks fun, but it's super difficult to play. There needs to be better ways to defend the player, as it is too hard with the single attack it has right now.

Never played the original, and have not heard about this game, because Atari not been disseminated in my country. I looked letsplay on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSHDSUgf06E), but there is another version. Your game is the exact remake or a variation on the basis of the original?
A remake of the Draconus game from atari 800XL.
Its a fan game, i hope you enjoy a similar experience i did have at 13 years old.
The game is not in development since i did it on 2010, graphics and sound are from the original game. I couldnt find the company or the programmer, so if you know something about them I will be happy to contact them!.
