Finally I'm ready. Here's a little review for anyone interested in the game or the developer themself. When I made the comment that this was the best rpgmaker game on the site, I wasn't kidding. After getting to play it some more I found out this game is what I said, Magnificent. Taking some default images is common for every rpgmaker game on Gamejolt, which tends to make them all blend together into nothingness. Usually people make the story around the defaults, this game changed the defaults to match the story. As well as that there was no glaringly bad graphics and actually some I'd consider beautiful, but hey, rpgmaker comes with good graphics so that isn't much a shock. Sound wise this game isn't memorable. I mean that as in the music is great, but I won't be humming nothing in my head. That however does not mean any of it's bad, rather just not quite industry changing. I think we can all live without it being 'industry changing'. Gameplay is a slight deviation from the norm, with attacks being dependent on you being able to time certain hits as opposed to just pressing a button, which is magic instead. This reminds me of Paper Mario, in that kind of active battles way. The story however is what caught me. At first it seems pretty bland, I didn't care at all. But slowly the game got me to be interested without using lore. I actually started caring because of the characters, to which are written pretty interesting. They are a bit flat at parts, but they definitely feel human in a lot of dialogues. Overall I'd give this game a 8/10, if you hate rpgs well, I can't stop you, but I ain't too big a fan of them and I enjoyed this.
It keeps giving me the "Oh no! Could not launch the game" message.
It worked fine the first time I played. I fought some monsters in wilderness fine. But now every time I start a battle, the enemy moves to attack and then freezes in front of the character, and if I press enter the whole screen becomes black with an error box saying "Script 'cache' line 80: RGSSError occured. failed to create bitmap." Then the game shuts down. I loaded my save 5 times and it happens every time.
Also, having the weapons upgrade the way you do, locked to character levels, compared to buying or finding weapon items, i dont like it because it seems rigidly set and forced and takes away any play in the weapon development as you know you have to wait to the certain level. dont like.
Oracle blinked 2 of my party members and now I only have 2, is this a bug or do I have to do something to get them back?
I am proud to present to you Epic Odyssey, a traditional rpg that I have worked on since 2011. You are invited to embark as a young knight who unknowingly set in motion events that will forever change the fate of the world. Along your journey across the fantastical land of Elysium a handful of loyal companions will assist you on your mission.
Epic Odyssey is a pretty large game (about 25hrs. for the story, another 10+hrs. for all side quests and other events). There are over 205 different enemies (no palette swaps) to encounter and add to your Beastiary. There are also over 90 different items, accessories, and armors to synthesize!
Other features include:
Many custom made skills and spells.
In battle the "Attack" command uses a Judgment Ring system to gain rage.
Each character has their own unique skill set.
4 Rage Overdrive skills per character.
14 different windows to give your adventure its own look.
Custom battle backgrounds.
Take screenshots of your adventure using the F10 key.
