What is Eradicate?
Eradicate is a little SHMUP created for one of my university assessments. The game was inspired by all the classic pixel based SHMUPs that formed the genre, yet modified to be more of a top-down shooter. Furthermore, game forces you to tactically manage and maneuver around your enemies, as they slowly evolve and strengthen in various ways.
It takes place within a virus ridden computer, as you try to eradicate the malicious force from within. To assist you in this task, your ship is equipped with an anti-viral blaster and a bait launcher. The blaster deals damage to the virus's grunts; whereas the launcher fires bait pellets which distract and lure away your foes. Additionally, once a bait pellet is consumed, it turns the enemy unstable; causing them to detonate on death. This explosion deals no damage to normal foes, but does deactivate enemies' green bullet proof shields.
