You had a lot of great ideas in this one!
I think what works best is the short field of view and the remaining corpses, there is definitely something to dig with that! Sometimes seeing the blood would remind me that a trap is somewhere near. I think it would be really cool if you could use this mechanic to help the player avoid dangers.
However, I still think some traps are a little unfair, like the rolling rocks that are incredibly hard to avoid, or the "leap of faith" when you don't see where you have to jump.
Great work!
I think this is a good start for a platformer. It has nice visuals and gameplay ideas, although didn't get the adventure type relation and got frustrated really quickly. (maybe a bit too hard)
We also created a game for the jam if you want to take a look. Is called "Zeqecu: Machinaria Files"
Cheers!
Sound and music is probably the most worthwhile thing you could do to make this platformer feel a bit better.
This game reminds me of Super Meat Boy in that it's really difficult, but has tight controls! After a while I got a hang of it and I didn't die all the time.
The shadow mechanism works well I think! It certainly feels like something new, at least I haven't tried a platform game with this much "fog of war". It's a cool idea!
With a little more time you could expand this to something really interesting with more variation in enemies, level design and maybe obstacles. Sounds as well, as others have mentioned.
Nice game: graphic were good but was missing a walk and jump animation
Music and sounds would have been nice (I saw them in the menu so I could have accidentally turned them off)
the corpses, which were a nice touch, could be more interesting. Maybe they could be collided with and used as a platform or maybe they emit light allowing the player to see better.
lots of red arrows began appearing and I got stuck on that level so I stopped, but other then that, solid game.
i have fished the game just haven't added any music yet
this game is short and simple hope you like to play it
