What do you think?

Not fun at all.

Hilarious! Simple and not very experimental but super wacky and thought provoking. Happy to claim Sweden as my prize, haha!

This game is so retro I forgot how to use my mouse

Giant Doll Velcro Technicolour Sticky Show

Version: 1.0.0over 15 years ago

Giant Doll Velcro Technicolour Sticky Show serves two purposes.

The primary objective was to make an entry for ExperimentalGameplay.com's Inanimate theme of January 2011. I think the focus on largely inanimate dolls covers that base nicely.

The secondary objective was to serve as a sort of commentary on a common trait of 'indie' games - 'Retro' style. Many developers release their games, branding their respective art styles as being decidedly 'retro'. When we think of the word 'retro', we might think immediately of sprites and of the golden ages of the 8- and 16-bit eras. Many people don't realise that 'retro' can also be a bad thing.

Giant Doll Velcro Technicolour Sticky Show showcases an age that is now very much 'retro': the early days of mainstream internet availability. I'm sure we all remember free hosting serves like Geocities, Tripod and Angelfire, and how the pages therein were usually littered with harsh primary colour contrasts, badly formatted pictures and animated .gifs that didn't really seem to belong anywhere. Some might not remember, but for a long time, a large portion of the internet was nigh unreadable.

GDVTSS takes you back to that time. A time before Google and Youtube. A time of Netscape Navigator. A time of MSN messenger. GDVTSS takes you right back to the explosion of the internet, whether you want to go there or not.
