What do you think?

I attempted to play this.

Problems:

  • No back arrow/ "press x to go back" message.
Had to restart the game after viewing instructions because I had no idea how to get back.

  • Keyboard controls do not display properly in instructions.
Only 2/4 movement keys for player 2 appear in the squares designated for them, and they're offset- the rest are totally blank.

  • Keyboard controls are weird- they are wasd and ftgh for movement, literally right on top of each other, which would make multiplayer in this fashion basically impossible without being smooshed against the other player.
I strongly recommend putting the second player's movement controls as the arrow keys, and place the rest of player 2's controls on that side of the keyboard.

  • No end/way to start a new match.
After throwing your opponent into the fire, the game does not end, nor allow you to return to the menu.

  • No volume control, so game music was practically deafening when i first pulled it up.

  • Laggy opening video.
It looks really low quality compared to the actual game, and takes forever to finish due to lag.

Unknown:

  • Don't have a gamepad/controller, so I don't know if there are issues there.

  • Don't know if 3 or 4 player mode has issues- see above.

The Good:

  • Graphics. Everything is in a neat retro pixel style, and looks adorable.
    ^ ^
Animation of both the fire and the characters is done really well.

  • Customization.
There's six different characters to play as, so you never have to have doubles even with the highest number of players.
They're also all unique, so that's a plus.

  • Music. While a bit loud, it sounds good and adds atmosphere.
It really has that halloween-y feel.

  • No gamebreaking bugs.
Although the keyboard movement controls are not placed well, they do function.

  • Concept.
The idea behind the game is pretty amusing, and if functioning correctly, would probably be really fun.

Overall:

The keyboard controls DEFINITELY need to be reworked, but if they were fixed, this would probably be a great game. ^ ^
