---Lore---

1420, peaceful monsters arrived on Earth through a portal, seeking refuge from their dying world. For centuries, humans and monsters lived together in perfect harmony. However, in 1920, humanity developed weapons of mass destruction (bombs), and royal scientists began experimenting with a dangerous energy source called "Determination."

An attempt to stabilize the Determination went awry, triggering a worldwide explosion that killed thousands. Humans, believing it to be a planned attack, launched a massacre to exterminate the monsters. The survivors took refuge in a deep underground bunker, founding a scrap metal city called Snowdin.

Years later, a mass of energy appeared in Snowdin. Humans on the surface detected it and, mistaking it for a secret military installation, sent bombers in. The attack tore a hole in the bunker's roof, leaving Sans critically injured and Papyrus near death. Queen Toriel disappeared in the aftermath of the explosion, and King Asgore secluded himself to find a solution to the conflict.

Some time later, a girl named Caramel fell through the hole in the ceiling. After losing her memory, she was rescued and cared for by Sans and Papyrus, eventually being accepted into the monster community. However, peace was shattered months later when a second human, equipped with military gear and a gas mask, parachuted down and began an armed massacre against the residents of Snowdin.
