And I... am Steve...
I Am Fear is a game based on hunting your victim through the perception of its heartbeat (through vibration and sound). You can't look at the screen: sit backward, turn up the volume, take an Xbox controller and feel the heartbeat in your own hands. You assume the role of a fear demon, who has to scare cute characters, too happy to deserve a peaceful living. Make quick and accurate movements in order to catch as many souls as possible before you end your demonic energy.
I Am Fear is a game with attractive graphics.. which you should not see!
The closer you get to your victim, the more intensely and frequently the Xbox controller vibrates; try to take advantage even of sounds and melody.
You move with the GamePad's left analog stick, you can set the game on fullscreen by pressing "F5" and it is possible to skip the introduction (it is recommended listening to it at least the first time) pressing "ESC". "F1" gives you some information on the game, "F3" disables sound (not recommended) and you can quit the application closing the window or pressing "F4". Even if it is not bound to game's basic mechanics it is possible to move the victim with directional arrows (useful only for joking and mocking purpose).
The game is available only for Windows and requires a GamePad provided of vibration (it is recommended a wired Xbox controller, or wireless with fully charged batteries). It is also accessible for visually impaired users (there are few texts, which are also read out and mechanics do not involve sight) and matches with friends are encouraged. It does not require installation and works almost on every computer (tested on Windows XP, Vista, and 7) provided of max resolution of 800x600.
I Am Fear has been developed in MMF2 for the fifth edition of the GlobalGameJam 2013 (Rome), the realization actually took less then 40h. The Team, mainly composed by the duo Luca "Tato" Contato and Alessandro "Mr.A" Di Lecce, has the collaboration of Luca Di Gennaro (melodies), Joel Fallerini (demon's voice) and Alessandro "Hamcha" Gatti (victim's voice).
