What do you think?

I just tried out the 2nd beta. Looks really good so far! The game speed is good, but kirby walks and runs just a bit too slow compared the actual games. A lot of the abilities seemed to inhibit movement (paint, samurai, ninja, and sword's dash attacks, for example, give you a very time amount of speed and then completely stop movement for a second) I think an easy workaround would be to extend the time spent moving before coming to a halt or reducing the time the player is frozen in place at the end of the attack.

I like a lot of the improvements/changes made to returning moves (like burning's spit attack, for instance), though there were two attacks in particular that were a bit disappointing. Firstly, Mirror's dash attack, instead of creating duplicates in the direction you were moving, creates duplicates in the 4 orthogonal directions. Personally, I prefer being able to direct the attack with movement, as it increases the skill ceiling and makes the ability more useful. The second attack was hi-jump's. Using hi-jump here stops your horizontal movement completely. My favorite hi-jump in an official kirby game was squeak squads, as that one increased horizontal speed, making it a risky but rewarding ability.

Lastly, I wanted to write about kirby's basic movement. Almost everything seems very accurate to how a real kirby game plays! I did notice a couple differences, however. Unlike in most kirby games, holding down the jump button while hovering doesn't make kirby repeatedly hover; you have to press it repeatedly. Kirby's running also seems more fickle than in other kirby games. In official kirby games, kirby begins running any time you press a movement button twice on ground. This includes pressing right and then left, or vice-versa. In this game, turning around doesn't count as pressing a button for the purpose of activating kirby's run. The second part of kirby's run is that it can only be deactivated by: not pressing left or right while on the ground, using an attack on the ground, and floating midair. As long as you keep holding a movement button, kirby won't stop, even if you hit a wall or enemy. He'll even keep running if you switch direction mid-run, as long as you keep the run button held. If you stop holding a directional button midair, he won't stop running as long as you're holding a directional button by the time kirby hits the ground. Kirby will also keep running if an attack is used in the air. Most attacks will revert kirby's run to a walk if used on the ground, but I can't think of a single one that will do so if used midair. Most attacks also retain kirby's run if they are used midair and kirby hits the ground before the attack is finished (sword's midair swing, for example). The only exception I've found is parasol.

The game is coming along nicely, andI'm looking forward to more being developed. Sorry for the huge block of text, I just wanted to help make this the best it can be. Keep up the good work!

I love the game. The games really fast, and I love it. I'd Probably add a full screen mode though, and the hats don't really look that good on Kirby. like they're just a second layer added on. I'd also probably make healing items heal a bit more, and make enemies do a tad bit more damage. aside from those things the games good.

Edit: I'd also like to add that there is no duck button. kinda makes it awkward when you swallow enemies.

I really liked the second version! I don't wanna be one of those guys but are you thinking about making this open source?

Cool game. i played the first version and liked it.

It was a peaceful day in dreamland, when invaders from the dark arrived and caused trouble. Kirby goes on an adventure to clear away all of dark matter. That's pretty much it, i'm stuff working on the story.

Okay, so I guess things didn't go so well.

I'm going back to the GBA Style of graphics and coding a better newer engine, as my old kirby engine was garbage.
So Its gonna take a while, but a demo will come soon!

Demo 2 Released

Yaaaayyy. Another version is released. Well its not really a demo, just another preview. The sliding isn’t fully implemented yet, and is buggy. Achievements are not in again, due to crashes

New demo coming soon!
