Main Eventer
Main Eventer is a text-based wrestling career simulation built in Pygame. Inspired by 1980s territory wrestling, the game starts you in a fictional wrestling promotion where you build your character, choose your gimmick and try to grind your way to the top.
My primary goal and driver behind the game is to build a wrestling game that is real in the sense that your character knows wrestling is a work and the goal is to gain promoter trust, work the locker room, build influence, and push yourself to the main event. Other wrestling games act like real sports - you want to win matches etc. to be the champion. This game is striving to be different.
What's in the Prototype
Full career simulation across multiple promotions and tiers
Interactive match system with a 3-beat build structure
Promo segments, backstage influence, and promoter politics
Title chases, feuds, and a dynamic NPC roster running in the background
Wear, injury, aging, and career reinvention mechanics
Random events that shape your run week to week
What's Not in the Prototype
Eventually I'd like to turn this into a full game with a much larger world. Right now it's one small promotion with 16-20 "stock" wrestlers and some fun commentators (including one with a penchant for big words). But it is not a finished vision, it is a fun concept.
This is my third attempt at building this game. The first ended up being a wrestling as sports game. The second, I started with an overly broad scope and built a monstrosity I lost control of quickly. This time, I started smaller and a little more fun, and wanted to test the prototype.
Will the game lack polish?
You bet.
Game's Future
Right now I am busy pushing out my first game, Track Star, a track and field career sim -Â wishlist on Steam. I am going to push that game in the summer and then hopefully return to this project.Â
And that's my story. So try it out, please leave feedback, and most importantly, have fun.
