What do you think?

I really enjoyed playing through this game! It took two completely different game genres, & tied them together really smoothly. The art styles used also made the game feel more original & dynamic as well.

You used 13 out of the 25 themes, therefore 13 points will be added to your overall score, which will be determined at the end of the voting period.

On another note, thank you for entering the first Themebound game jam. I am currently running a survey for suggesting new ideas for the next Themebound jam, & would appreciate it if you gave me your input: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Uca2pRlEE6aGy4-BvqD2qrs_36zfHatQEFvP8BfHoBk/viewform

Thank you.

Edit (Apr 21): Added WebGL build. It loads slowly, so if you're not using Chrome you may prefer to play the Unity webplayer version.

Originally made in a week for the #themeboundjam, then slowly polished for the rest of the month. Jam version can be found on my website.

War has claimed the world. A desperate attempt at changing the course of history rests in the Mindjump, a machine with unpredictable consequences.

This game is essentially two games in one: a Match3/Tetris puzzle game and an action/plaftormer. Classifying it as "Other" seemed like the way to go.
Made in Unity (C#), all graphics/animations in Photoshop, music in SunVox, sounds in Bfxr.

Controls:

  • Match 3

  • Move block left/right: Left directional key, A, Q / Right directional key, D

  • Rotate block: Up directional key, W, Z

  • Drop block: Down directional key, S (hold)

  • Fast-forward dialog: Return (hold)

  • Action

  • Move left/right: Left directional key, A, Q / Right directional key, D

  • Jump: Up directional key, W, Z

  • Attack: Left mouse button, Spacebar

  • Block: Right mouse button, Left Shift, Right Shift (hold)

  • Mute Music/Noise: M/N

Themes used for #themeboundjam (SPOILERS):

  • Time Travel: The main plot point of the game is a jump back in time.

  • Control more than one character? Dubious, technically you control patient 72 during the Match3 sequences and the unnamed knight during the action sequences, but the Match3 sequence may be considered to not have a playable character.

  • Randomization: The Match3 blocks are randomly generated.

  • Confinement: Patient 72 is confined to the memory machine, her doctors are confined to the lab due to the war above, and the unnamed knight's existence is confined to 72's (and later, vice-versa).

  • You can't physically move yourself: Patient 72 controls the actions of the unnamed knight, but can't move herself.

  • War: There's a war ocurring during the events of the game, and the goal is to go back in time to stop it.

  • Regaining memory: This one should be obvious.

  • 2 stories that later merge: At the end of the game.

  • Plug & Play: Not technically Plug&Play, but the two very distinct gameplay modes essentially separate the game in two games, and this was very much the intent. Well, the actual intent was to have three, but time.

  • *(jam version) Monochrome?*Well, this one is cheap, since most of the game is only B&W because i didn't have time to color it, but i'll take it.

  • Transformation: When patient 72 reaches full sync, she effectively transforms into the unnamed knight. At the end of the game, she is permanently changed.

  • The evil is not really evil: The soldiers you fight against as the unnamed knight are being controlled by alien parasites.

  • Sci-Fi Time Paradoxes: Finishing the game creates a paradox, and patient 72's timeline is erased.

  • I could probably claim some more if you squinted very hard, but these seemed the most relevant.
