I wonder if this is only a concept, or you intend to make a full game out of this idea. If its the latter, I recommend making a light animation for when the characters are on the ledges, or maybe just a different sprite, just to give a little more personality to the game.
I love it, a simple but well implemented mechanic, can't wait to see more from this game!
