PROTOCOL 5-13
You get 5 bullets and 13 seconds to survive.
So here's the deal: you're stuck in some weird facility that keeps changing every time you die. And you will die. A lot.
You've got 5 bullets. No ammo pickups, you can get more ammo by kicking...or killing enemies. Oh, and you've got 13 seconds before... well, you die again. Kill enemies and progress to next room to refill your timer...slightly.
The whole place feels wrong. Like those liminal space photos that make your skin crawl - you know, empty offices and fluorescent-lit hallways that look familiar but shouldn't exist. Except this one's trying to kill you.
I wanted to make something that felt like the old-school shooters I grew up with, but with that creepy "something's not right here" vibe.Â
Every run is different because the facility reshuffles itself. Sometimes you'll find a route that works, sometimes you'll turn a corner and immediately regret every life choice that led you there. The goal is simple: stay alive as long as possible and rack up points doing it.
What you're getting:
Procedural levels that hate you personally
Extremely limited ammo (seriously, make those shots count)
That weird 80s/90s arcade look but more liminal
A growing sense that this facility has secrets it doesn't want to share
Fair warning: This is a playtest build. Some stuff is broken, some stuff is missing, and I'm still figuring out how to make the scary computer hallways even scarier. But if you're into that whole "die repeatedly while slowly getting better" thing, you might dig it. There is no ending yet, I am still working on it.
How long can you last? Can you figure out what Protocol 5-13 actually means?
There's only one way to find out, and it involves a lot of dying. Enjoy :)
for those interested, this is the evolution of my game Chertovica which I am no longer developing (for now) in its current form. I am an idiot, I overscoped and cannot finish it in a reasonable time lol. Chertovica's steam page will be reworked for Protocol 5-13 in the near future if valve approves
