Relentless: Ranger

Relentless: Ranger is a fantasy rogue-lite side-scrolling RPG. Slash, shoot, sneak, die, and repeat as the next strider to brave the impossible mission. Unlock disciplines, rescue damsels, and build a better base for your cohort. Choose a new adventure every run.

It is currently in development for PC and Mac, with Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch console ports to be considered as well.

The game originated from our love of 8/16 bit era side-scrolling RPGs such as Faxanadu, Cadash, and of course Adventure of Link. These games add RPG open world elements to the metroidvania model, making them uniquely different from a standard Metroid, which is mostly a linear progression gated by locking key items. Imagine a side-scrolling open world, but with rogue-lite ideas from games such as Rogue Legacy or Dead Cells. Instead of one area, Relentless takes place in a giant fantasy world with dungeons and towns that are randomly generated every run.

The main features of the game include hundreds of NPCs, metroidvania-like combat system, an arsenal of weapons, a variety of special “arts” linked to ranger disciplines, and a huge Tolkienesque world filled with challenging fantasy monsters. Experience a new adventure on every run with a new ranger.

Bows, swords, animals, and gadgets. Use a variety of weapons and abilities to overcome your opposition in tough but fair combat. Each ranger lives once. Once he dies, you must select another to attempt the quest.

In addition to physical tools, the rangers can power up in nine disciplines. Each discipline comes with its own perks and unique abilities which encourages certain play styles.

Will you increase your martial disciplines to more easily slaughter waves of monsters with might? Will you increase Shadow and sneak past unnecessary threats? Or will you focus on Beastmastery and wreck havoc with wild animal friends?

Efforts accumulate during the rangers' campaign against evil. Rescue villagers, find artifacts, or invest money in your headquarters. You will be rewarded with better weapons, more potions, and beds with less fleas. Help make the town a better place and the mission less unreasonable, if not for you, at least for your successors. 

In Relentless you will have the chance to fight classic enemies of fantasy from orcs, goblins to liches as well as some original new ones unique to this world.  

In Relentless, the elves have fallen to the Dark. For their loyalty, the Dark granted them horrific new bodies with terrifying powers. Formerly the first children of light respected by all the races, the elves are now anathema and hunted down by all.
