One day, something came to a skeleton named Sans. It felt like a memory, but he didn't remember it. A vision of sorts. He saw his own brother, Papyrus murdered by a certain striped-shirt-wearing human. He thought nothing of it at the time, if not a little unsettled...
And then the human appeared.
He had a feeling something bad was going to happen. Soon after the human appeared, it started to get quieter...quieter...yet quieter. He began to find dust mixed in with the snow. He knew what that vision was now. He couldn't let Papyrus die. Papyrus, wanting to confront the human, was told desperately by Sans to let him take his place. Papyrus was unsure why his normally lazy brother had such a sudden burst of energy (or was it nervousness?), but the thought of Sans actually doing anything excited him, and so he happily let him.
That afternoon, he was trying to get that annoying dog out of the sink cupboard again, when he heard the sounds of a battle outside. He looked outside the window just as the human landed a slash against Sans. Papyrus watched on with horror as Sans turned to dust. The human simply walked off.
Papyrus, to say the least, was distraught. He locked his bedroom door and stayed there. For a long time. Eventually, he fell asleep.
Then, in his dreams...he met someone willing to help him avenge his brother.
