A man claiming to be the son of legendary bandit Ishikawa Goemon has been arrested following a caravan robbery: he's accused of stealing a shipment of gold from Lord Oda, and Oda's minion Magistrate Ikoma has him locked up in a secret prison cell. Mata the Fox has been sent in to prevent Ikoma and Oda from torturing the gold out of Goemon: he must steal Ikoma's official seal, Goemon's release orders, and a guard's uniform to trick Ikoma's men into releasing the thief.
