Gameplay: 6 / 10
The game plays like your average platformer only instead of jumping on enemies you use a knife to kill them. This can be difficult at times because some enemies are far away from you and defeating them can be a challenge because you can't throw your knife. You can only use it at close range. There is a moment in the game where you operate a giant machine to destroy ghosts which I liked very much. (Maybe it can be an unlockable mini game with multiple stages that is unlocked by destroying all the ghosts in a level?)
Graphics: 10/10
The game has excellent graphics and the particle effects are really nice as well.
Sound: 2/10
The game has a few sound effects, such as jumping and using your knife. The reason why I gave it a 2 out of 10 is because the game has no music which makes it lose some of my enjoyment.
Replay: 4/10
Not much replay value you here. You don't get any special bonus for killing all the enemies in the stage or achievements.
Final Words:
A pretty solid platformer with a few features that make it stand out, but the lack of music makes it very dull. This game can be a good stepping stone to help you make better games in the future. Other than that I advise you to check it out and turn up your favorite song on windows media player. xD
Good game, but it's pretty hard tho, I rage quit xD
Liked the graphics, good job! :)
Hey, so this game is really awesome, and I'd love to see more of it. There is just one slightly huge problem that I have been repeatedly been facing though, and it's that, every single time I get to the Slasher Machine, all goes well until I wanna say, about maybe halfway through the level, the game just unexpectedly crashes, and closes, and it seems to be at the same part every time. Any ideas on why that might be?
Nice game, simple but sufficient Visuals and artstyle. Overall very fun to play, good job.
Just. Good. Platformer!
Slasher Boy is a platformer originally created for the Halloween competition 2009 on The Daily Click. Although the idea of a horror themed retro-style Jump'n'Run starring a horror icon similar to famous slasher movies was lurking in my head for a while, I took the opportunity to create a demo of the game for the compo.
The story summary goes a little bit like this:
There's trouble in Horror-Land. It's Halloween time on earth, and long-haired asian ghosts are trying to take over and rule the fear in the mind of mankind. Only one brave little boy, a Slasher Boy, stands between them and a new order in the world of horror.
The game got customizable controls with controller support.
