Solotra.B

Solotra.B (currently in early stages of development) is a 2D retro-styled, top down space trader/shooter that has some tower defence/base building elements. It is influenced by many of my favourite childhood games, in particular, Elite, K240, Mega lo Mania, Sid Meier's Pirates, Space Invaders and Asteroids.

The premise of the game is that the player has been sent out into a sector of the galaxy to collect resources, to help restore their home planet (due to a global catastrophe) and to build an exodus fleet. Players will have to balance resources between purchasing ships,weapons, and upgrades, building and defending mining bases and sending resources back home.

It features an open world, where the player can visit 24 star-systems, each which contains its own planetary systems. In these planetary systems players can:

• Scavenge for materials/ harvest resources

• Trade items or purchase ships/weapons/upgrades at alien cities

• Attack and plunder merchant/civilian ships

• Engage in legal/illegal trading between worlds/system/alien races

• Engage alien ships in combat

• Engage in diplomacy/negotiation with alien species

• Take on missions/request from other space travelers

• Warp to new star systems

• Land on planets in order to establish mining bases

• Harvest resources from planet surfaces

• Defend mining bases from alien attacks

I have been developing this game since February 2014 and expect to launch a Kickstarter campaign (sometime next year) in order to help me finish this off, develop some of the features further and redraw some of the art. I would appreciate any feedback and also hope to launch this eventually (mid-late next year) on Steam: Greenlight.
