A few months after the events of Sonic 4 Episode 2, Sonic has now resting and watching the sky, until he notices an object in the sky that looks similar to the Death Egg, Sonic decided to use his friend Tails' rocket and go up there to see if he can figure out what's going on. When he arrives he meets up with his old nemesis, Dr Ivo Robotnik, or just Dr. Eggman. Dr Eggman explains that he built a new Death Egg out of the remaining parts of Death Egg MK II and built the Death Egg MK III. Eggman also made another robot that will surpass the ablity of Metal Sonic, Mecha Sonic MK II. Eggman wants to use the Death Egg MK III and Mecha Sonic MK II to take over the Earth and capture Sonic. Before Sonic can fight him, Eggman ejects Sonic out of the ship and into a strange solar system with strange and wacky planets. Now Sonic has to go from planet to planet to stop Dr. Eggman before it's too late.
