About the Game:

In the 90s, the desire to compete with Nintendo's mascot (Mario), the company SEGA created one of the greatest icons in the history of pop culture, a blue hedgehog named Sonic.

The blue hedgehog games were pure speed, had challenging platforms and that unique feeling of freedom that only these console games delivered. Many children and teenagers dreamed of making Sonic run around Green Hill, Scrap Brain, etc., collecting cartridges, posters and any product related to the fast hedgehog.

As a result, many pirated games emerged, which made the hedgehog invade even more homes (in a positive way). Poorly made versions, creative adaptations and unexpected ports appeared everywhere, with some differences, extra screens or even curious mechanics that made each copy special. Playing these titles was part of the adventure: you never knew exactly what you were going to find when you inserted the floppy disk or cartridge. It was the magic of the time, something accessible, fun and full of "mystery".

This culture ended up creating countless legends among players. Stories emerged about secret levels, hidden characters and cursed versions of the games. As the internet was still extremely limited for most people, many rumors spread only through conversations between friends, video game magazines and video stores.

A short fictional story was told at that time:

A boy found an unlabeled cartridge at a fair. The seller just said it was "a rare Sonic game." Curious, the poor boy took the cartridge home. When turning on the console, everything seemed normal. The home screen showed the blue hedgehog happy as always.

But something felt off.

Some songs were more distorted than usual. And bizarre and unusual things started to happen, things that wouldn't even happen in a weirder pirated copy of any Sonic game.

He thought it was still a harmless game.

Days later, this boy and his family were never seen again...
