My Review: Space Merchant is about trading items in space. You buy low and sell high to get rich in space. First released in 2018 playing the game runs smoothly and I like the graphics as they are clear with a high resolution in colored 2D. The music was selected nicely and fits the space theme. I don't like having to remember where the planets I last visited are located but the challenge is not more difficult for maybe a twelve year old and older to play. The controls are easy to use. The rating I give for this game is 4.5/5 Stars. Very good!
SPACE MERCHANT
Fly from planet to planet to trade with merchants and finally reach your goal of becoming rich in space. Avoid asteroids and other hazards, because repairing your ship is expensive. If you cannot pay for repairs, you lose.
Controls
Mouse for direction, Spacebar for speed
Objective
Fly into planets (literally fly into them) to land on them and trade with locals. Then take off for the next planet and try to get a good price for what you bought. Avoid hazards on your trips. Repeat to get rich.
Random Information
Put together in around 30 hours for the DreamHack Austin Jam 2018 plus an additional 10 hours cleanup, visual improvements and more after the jam.
A few years later: an additional 15 hours of bringing the project up to speed plus polish and improvements for the DreamHack Bejond Jam 2021 resubmission!
