Swapped Myth (stylized as SWAPPED MYTH) is an Underswap take that aims to focus on expanding the world of Undertale/Deltarune, with ideas both new and old, to enrich its world.

There's a tale, dating back to millenniums ago, a story viewed as little more than a myth in the modern age.. an age-old tale of man, and monster, in times long past, these two very races Monsters and Humans ruled valiantly over the tranquil Earth, however, one day, without warning, a great conflict broke out between these two races... a war, really.

Many Monsters were slain, while the humans didn't lose as much as a single life.. The Humans were far too determined, and overwhelmed Monster-kind with their very power. Queen Toriel surrendered, now without their 7 sorcerers, the humans sought the help of their own greatest sorcerers, to seal Monster-kind underground..

For all eternity.

As of the present year, 202X, Mt. Ebbot still stands tall, this very legend carrying on throughout generations.. No one dares to go near the mountain, as anyone who has entered... is said to never return.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Q: Where can I download this?

A: Unfortunately, you can't download SWAPPED MYTH yet, however, don't fret! A demo is in progress and we are working our hardest to make this playable for y'all. While we do not have a solid release date for the time being, we will keep you all updated.

Q: What platforms will it be playable on?

A: We intend to release this project on Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android, and if your smart toaster runs on android and has a touch screen, you can play it there too!

Q: What is this project about, anyways?
A: This focuses on swapping character roles, but personalities stay pretty much the same. so yes, it's a bit like TS!Underswap in a way, but you've got loads of different things happening and original characters in between; one character I'm VERY excited about in the demo but i can't reveal to you who they are, because spoilers.... but i digress. it sort of justifies the aspect of Underswap as not just rewriting the game with different sprites, but replacing existing character positions with their opposite counterparts and keeping their personalities (mostly). then there's also the mechanics, such as magic, overworld party assists, and more! It's an Underswap take intended to be truly unique and stand out.

Swapped Myth is inspired by a variety of different media, both inside and outside of the Undertale/Deltarune sphere, this is also reflected in our OST. some inspirations have descriptions included, noting what in particular we drew inspiration from others may lack this.

Inspirations include (but are not limited to):

Mother 3 by Hal Laboratory

Mother 3 is hands down one of my favorite games of all-time, out of several that happen to be on this list, this is my favorite overall, there were certain design choices for the User Interface in Mother 3 which we took inspiration from, such as the iconic Game Over screen, among other things.

Sonic Adventure by Sega

Golden Sun by Camelot Software Planning

While incredibly underrated today, Golden Sun was a really unique RPG release on the GameBoy Advance that pushed the hardware to its limits, especially musically- in particular we draw inspiration from certain aspects of Golden Sun's battle system, like the "Defend" mechanic.

An intruiging Underswap take that's been in development for nearly 7 years now, in particular, we draw inspiration from the inclusion of Deltarune inspired Quality-of-Life mechanics being implemented, an (optional) rounded box, and of course, high effort artwork.

TSR!OUTERSWAP: Orbit of Destiny by @bielFreddy

First notable Outerswap take I saw around the web, created by @bielFreddy this project sported gorgeous, detailed artwork, and some unique twists on the "C" Menu, and Combat, including a magic mechanic, which partially inspired us to include magic as a concept in the world of Swapped Myth, another inspiration drawn from it being the radial battle interface.

We drew inspiration from Omori's iconic "Emotion" mechanic, and reworked it to better fit within the world of Swapped Myth.
