I couldn't play this very long past the tutorial, and it's too bad: this game shows a lot of creativity and potential.
The most painful problem is the music: the tunes could be a lot better, but the music quality is so bad it hurts my ears.
The graphics are very cute and full of personality, even though a couple of them are poorly-scaled blocky messes. The menus in particular are really charming: each option is a fish swimming back and forth onscreen with appropriate text written on their sides. The effect is ruined, however, by the bad text boxes telling me how to pick an option: they're unnecessary, but that's the least of the problems they cause.
See, i get to the controls selection menu where three fish offer three different control schemes. A text box appears at the bottom stating the obvious: pick a fish. I click on a fish, and nothing happens. So I figure I need to get rid of the text box first (tedious and, again, unnecessary) and hit space. The text box vanishes; and then I'm suddenly at the next menu, as apparently the game remembered that I clicked the mouse before. This problem is also apparent during cutscenes, when I hit space during a text crawl: if I hit space while the text box is typing its text, nothing happens, but the second it finishes typing, it starts the next string, so I miss the last couple words of the previous line. Pushing a button or key should ONLY register an action when the action is called for.
When i finally got to the gameplay i didn't play very long, mainly due to the horrid music, though the game also seems like an unrefined puzzle/adventure that was unsure of what it wants to be. I'm guessing it would greatly benefit from being simplified more. I'd like to give it another shot if the abovementioned issues are fixed.
Elroy lost seven of his tentacles! Now he must decide who will help him on his quest for revenge!
Play as Elroy, an octopus that is currently down a few tentacles, in this quirky fun adventure game. Navigate through 3 twisting levels and battle epic bosses! Will you grow back your tentacles to become strong again, stay cute for the snail that flirts with you, or eat crabs to get through tough areas?
Takes about an hour to complete the game, 4 difficulties (one that no one has beaten yet), multiple endings, open ended story, works with an PS2 controller, and its free to play!
