I don't know why but this game calms me down xD
I think it is peacefull because of the music and the sounds that it makes ^-^
Graphics 3/5
I read your in-game description about how you were limited in time, and you weren't as artistically inclined, and I respect that you're willing to admit that. Objectively, the graphics were ok, but my biggest concern was just that there was almost too much going on with all the flashing lights. Although I can see why attempting to obliterate a swarm of lightbulbs with blobs of gel would be utter pandemonium.
Backstory 3/5
To be perfectly honest, I had no clue about anything that was going on in the game, but the story was an interesting read nonetheless. Definitely...creative...just not sure what exactly was created. Call it abstract art. The game could have connected a little better.
Music 4/5
I personally loved the music. It was festive, joyful, everything that you described this festival/show to be. Suited the theme well.
Controls 3/5
The controls were pretty simply once I got used to them, but it was easy to get lost in the sea of lightbulbs and lose track of where you were.
Wow! Factor 3/5
Definitely haven't played anything quite like this before. I was definitely wow'd by the chaos of hundreds of Christmas lights being shattered. Maybe a bit too wow'd.
Playability/Difficulty 3/5
The interesting thing about this game wasn't so much the difficulty that made it challenging but the actual playability. It was really really easy to lose track of your small, little blue bulb in the mass of colorful explosions. This hindered the game in my opinion.
Overall Score 3.2/5
Nice job on the game in such a short time! Hopefully you got some shiny medal in the competition, keep it up ;)
Amazing game that gets you into the holiday spirit. :)
Highly original idea, I like it, fun to play.
This game is one of the jewels that i like it the most :D
Set on an old abandoned stage in the middle of a barren desert (San Aruba), the natives of the land put on a play in an ancient amphitheater once every year. It is called "The Winter Solstice", a six act play that progresses through the winter season that never comes to San Aruba. It is a joyful time, full of festive music, fireworks and lights. With each passing year as the weather grows hotter and dryer, the local culture and theater is slowly disappearing...but the old play will never be forgotten, handed down to many generations for the years to come.
Jump into the play and create a show that no one will soon forget, full of action and intense challenge. Can you do justice to the old tradition?
Influenced by such popular shooters such as Blast Factor, Geometry Wars and Everyday Shooter, The Winter Solstice will challenge your gamer skills with a unique gameplay twist on the familiar genre. The game features many modes and unlockable features, including:
-Theater Mode, along with Single Play that allows you to go for the gold by beating local high scores.
-Twenty medals that challenge the player to beat certain milestones within the game, unlocking content along the way.
-Unlockable modes such as Survival and Precision, which challenge your reflexes as well as your accuracy.
-Fully featured options that control the level of graphics your computer can handle.
-A folk-guitar score by Gayle Ellett and Todd Montgomery of Exotic Acoustic.
