The Dreamscape is a short virtual simulation of Jordan Hance's latest exhibition which deals with dreams, the unconscious mind and memory. The game is designed to be a short horror experience, building on atmosphere and setting. Along the way, you can look at the macabre art on the walls. getting close to the work and looking at it brings up the information about the work.
For my exhibition, The Dreamscape, I wanted to take the sensory experience to a new level. The atmosphere I created in the gallery space was strong and dreamlike, however, it was still a gallery. What the work needed was a more singular experience, one that resembled a dream more closely.
The solution was to create a virtual experience that one could singularly immerse themselves in. I used Unreal Engine 4 to recreate the atmosphere of my exhibition in a twisted, house-like maze that one must walk through. The environments are rooted in the places I have dreamed of before.
