1.4 is shaping up to be one of Pentagun’s most significant updates as it lays the foundation for all future content.
What’s left to do? There’s some bug fixing in order, I have to finish the two new levels, adjust enemy placements on the old levels, tweak some enemy stats, and also implement the new scoring algorithm.
For the longest time, Pentagun based score on “perceived” difficulty. To simplify things, I am now using a formula that bases score on enemy movement speed, how many bullets (from the primary weapon) it takes to destroy them, and the type of projectile they shoot at you (if any).
In addition, the in-game guide, one of Pentagun’s longest-running features, has been removed. It’s presence, and the need to keep it updated, slowed down development.
A new web-based guide will be launched soon (most likely alongside the update AFTER this one, 1.5).
Will the in-game guide return? Maybe. I might create it as a separate executable. I might not. Who knows.
1.4 will be released before the end of March.
That is all for now.
