Somehow we've reached 1k followers on SCP Unreal! This is one of our biggest milestones yet so we'd like to thank everyone who helped UCB grow as much as it did!
Now, I think it's only fair if I give an update regarding development, as a lot of stuff has happened:
Since May from this year I've come to a conclusion while developing the game:
I didn't have the skills to make a project like this by the time it grew larger and larger.
Yes, as a developer I know how to make this game from start to finish, with all the content promised even, but one thing that was clear is that I'd come across numerous problems during development that would slow the whole thing down, because a project of this scale simply would go like that.
And obviously, i'm not gonna just release a half-assed product, or cancel it altogether, and so the best thing I could think of was one single thing:
Making a side-project that's even larger than this during this summer.
To test my limits and hone my skills, i've been developing as a side project an undisclosed game that will probably not even come to light, that has improved my skills as a developer by an incredible margin.
Thanks to the things I've learnt I'm confident something like multiplayer could be expanded upon in the post-release future!
Obviously I didn't just make an entire project revolving around multiplayer, so many other things I've learnt will help speed up development, examples of this are modelling and animating, which I've deeply learnt and will help me not rely on other people to get things done!
So a TL;DR of this whole fiasco would be: I've honed my skills as a game developer and expanded my range in game production over to modelling and animation over the course of this summer.
Oh, and to make things clear, I haven't completely stopped development on SCP Unreal, so that's been going smoothly as well!
While I can't really show much footage of what is being worked on (since it's all core mechanics and random generation), I can share some details on how I plan to handle the release of the planned demo set to release (whenever it's ready):
The demo will, for the most part, have all core mechanics present in the actual game, but will have you play as a researcher before and during the breach! Whether random generation will be a part of this demo is currently unknown, but if I'm being honest, it most likely won't, as the demo will be more of a story telling medium to expand the lore of Containment Breach and give you an idea on how the game plays (so you can give us feedback too!).
That's honestly all I've got to share with you today, again, thank you so much for 1k followers, we won't let you down!
