Game
The F'ing Chao Garden Rejuvenated

2.0.0 Release.

So, after just stopping working on this game for a while...I finally finished up this update.

The Cosmetic Changes:

  • All of the Chao on the overworld have new sprites now. I thought they'd look a little nicer. The Chao Boxes also have new sprites on the overworld too.

  • Certain Fights that have pinch phases have their music pitch change removed.

  • The Currency in 2.0.0 is Rings now, instead of Seeds.

  • Goodbye Forest, Peace Cliff, Neutral Garden, Hero Garden and Chao Cave have been touched up a bit with the tiles, with Goodbye Forest and Peace Cliff looking less bland while Chao Cave's colour scheme has been changed to better match it in SA2. The two gardens just had a water update.

  • Certain Conversations have been altered or extended a bit, just for the characters to chat a little more. There's a couple new ones as well. This is to help characterize the group a little better.

  • The Toaster, and newly-added Blender (obtainable as a Decoration from Computer Crystal) now utilize a crafting script, by Mr.Bubble I believe.

  • There's also a plushie. The power of the bear compels you!

The Combat Changes (these are big):

  • The stat system has been altered in this version! It matches that of the Chao stats in Sonic Adventure 2. I mostly used how they work in Chao Karate as a baseline for what each one does.

  • Basically, Power is ATK, Swim is DEF, Fly is EVA (Replacing MDF), Run is AGI, Luck is LUK, Intelligence is CRT (Replacing MAT) and Stamina is HP. I believe MP is Skill and Tech is still Tech.

  • Also, there's been a Chaos Drive Change-Up, as to better match those from SA2. Basically, Red = Power, Green = Run, Yellow = Swim, Purple = Fly. The ones for this game specifically are: Blue = Intelligence and Luck, Grey = Stamina and White = Skill.

  • Here's another important change, there's a new equipment class, "Animal Buddies"! This is based on the animals that you can give to chao a bit (don't expect any appearance changes), which will alter their stats a bit. Three particular ones will give new skills. You gain the animals from pummeling boxes. The 3rd, 6th, 9th & 12th box that was defeated will give them you.

  • Delta Omega Boxes will give you one animal at 2, 3 & 4 boxes destroyed.

  • Several Balance Changes, ranging from a Buffed Bodyslamma and Running Circles to a Nerfed Heroic Paladin.

  • A game-changing on is the large nerf to Dark Chao and Dark Garnet Run Chao's speeds. They're both no longer going to be running at 999. They still are the fastest among the team though, but DGR.Chao is now the fastest chao of the recruitable party.

  • Another important change to note here is that several moves have gained the ability to break guards, which are the regular guard, Hero's Shield, Heroic Paladin and Aura Field.

  • For bosses, Zeta, and the DGR Chao fight in the Hero Garden have had their stats reduced. Finallie Chao Box A can no longer go twice, or even three times in a single turn now neither...

  • However, with nerfed bosses, comes buffed bosses and mini-bosses. Protector Nuts now call in backup at half-health, plus they also have access to Bodyslamma. Said Bodyslamma can break guards too, so that ain't good.

  • Delta Omega Boxes have been buffed, they're now just about stronger than what Zeta was in the previous version, plus a buffed moveset, and also a guard breaking move. Have fun. Oh, and Finallie Chao Box A got stat buffs. That thing's Tornado Hold and Box Slasher have been buffed to hit two opponents. Also 'nado hold can break guards.

  • The Three Chao Clones are now named as such, and also all have been buffed too, having access to both movesets of their respective alignment. Granted some moves they won't use until their "pump-up" phase. Also a few stat buffs. However, they will drop 2 of their respective alignments ZX tier emotion balls.

  • Speaking of dropping items, ZX tier weapons are only obtainable through the clones now. As for what replaces them in the drop pool of the nuts? Another basic fruit of the respective garden the nut is fought in.

  • Said nuts now match the attacking element of the garden they're in, by the way.

  • Giant Nuts (and Sentinels for their "gud" counterparts) have joined the fray, defeating them will yield a guarenteed drop of a Max Fruit, a Max Drink Bottle and a Chaos Drive. Chao Fruit if you're against the Sentinels.

  • There's a new boss, but they'll only show up if you're enroute to the True Ending. They'll fight you just before the final chao box fight.

  • Oh, and err...have fun if you get to that final chao box fight on Proudly Hard or Critically Impossible...

  • Also I think there was a returning boss or something?...Try reaching the end of the game with just Neutral Chao, Hero Chao, Dark Chao & Dark Garnet Run Chao if you feel like it. Might be something there.

There's also a few more changes, such as that blender being able to make you drinks, the Fire Starter now simply requiring Dark Garnet Run Chao to be in your party, and a few bugfixes here and there.
