2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY UPDATE!! (Combat, gameplay overhaul and more!)


HELLO EVERYONE!!

This is possibly the BIGGEST update this game has ever seen; completely overhauling the gameplay and for the first time in two years the game is actually fun.

You see, when I first started this project I had little game design knowledge. Over the years I've basically just added whatever sounded cool without much consideration for the design of the game. But recently I realised that I can't have that. I need to make this game fun or the past two years working on this game would've all been for nothing.

And so I did! I looked at what the core gameplay loop revolves around and made those features more fun!

The game constantly forces you to be on the move due to your constantly draining bars and lack of cash. So I had to make the exploration more fun.

One thing I knew would help to add to the exploration would be the addition of combat. But when I added combat I found it to be the most fun thing in the whole game. Thus, I made the game extremely combat-heavy and gave it a more frantic arcade-like feel.

Anyway, enough with that, let's get into what's in the new update!

NEW FEATURES:

  • Sprinting/combo bar

-Pressing Q while walking will initiate sprinting and pull up the combo bar

-The combo stick will move from side to side on the combo bar, with the player having to press Q when it reaches the right side and E when it reaches the left.

-As you string together a combo, the camera zooms out and the player speeds up, allowing the player to see more and move faster.

  • Guns

  • Ammo

  • Enemies (Bandits)

  • New occupation: veteran

  • Health bar has been added

  • Health menu has been added. Player can now break bones in combat, with various debuffs being applied depending on which body parts are damaged

  • Gore effects have been added

CHANGES/BUG FIXES:

  • Speed stat no longer increases player speed, but rather the current value of the speed stat is now added on when stringing a combo

  • Tutorial has been altered

  • Fixed bug where "E" prompt wouldn't show up while in collision with baker

Fixed some minor issues with the mobile port and corrected the length of each chapter disclosed in the start-up warning, as it was greatly exaggerated.

I've been working on this game all day and it's coming along quite well! It's a backrooms-themed, online-multiplayer survival rouge-like and it should be out by tomorrow!
