6/11/25 Devlog: Demo Talk

Friendly reminder — this game is being worked on. It's not dead, and it ain't dying. Anyhow, onto today's devlog, going over the demo for this game, with a side order of the first level's concept art!

Demo Features

Behold, everything the demo will have:

  • Playability!

    Shocking, I know.

  • Try out Garand Magus before its full release!

  • Two levels to play through!

Originally it was gonna be just one, but then I realized that be underwhelming, so I tried to make it decently-whelming! Yes, these are the first levels of the full game, too.

    • Level 1: Greenwood Woods

This is the level you saw in the concept art at the top of this post, and was originally gonna be the only level in this demo. Here begins your journey. This level will feature a variety of Bandits and Shadow Archers for you tackle. At the end, you will have made it to the next level, deep near the heart of the woods...

    • Level 2: Wizards' Sanctum

An ancient temple-like castle once belonging to the Elemental Wizards who created the Chaos Relic. This is where you'll get the Map of the Fragments, which'll allow you to uncover the locations of the Chaos Fragments. However, the castle is guarded by stone golems, commanded by Gertrude Stonemoss, the personification of the Earth Fragment. Beat him and you shall gain both the map and the fragment, and yes, he is a bossfight.

  • Other Features

    • A title screen!

    • An opening cutscene relatively inspired by the one from Undertale — but blue instead of sepia!

    • And more to come!

If you thought the list was too short then don't worry — next devlog will be sure to be an 800-word essay. /silly

Anyhow, that's all for this devlog. Now I must get back to programming this demo! Until next time, folks!

So... summer break is almost over, and I've barely made any progress on this game since the last devlog. What's the holdup? Well... I've been busy maining Taph. In other terms: Forsaken peak, Taph peak, and Jason mains hate me.

Huntress of the Web — GJ Style

Behold, my attempt at something for #GameJoltColors25. She's a new OC of mine — an insectoid black widow huntress who lost her extra pair of arms in a fight with her ex. If you got a good name for 'er, share it with me!

Finally made my GJ colors thing. Not a fan but the shoes turned out pretty cool !! (I've never drawn sport shoes before)

Back with a Full Mag

My game-developing hiatus is over, y'all! And I behold my newest game, Garand Magus! Put it simply: it's a 2D Platformer Shooter about a lil' wisp wizard... But with a gun! This is gonna be a garand endeavor, for sure!

Your fellow Jolters are still hard at work making GREAT #GameJoltColors25 art!

There's still time for YOU to be part of it. Check your quest log to get started.
