Hello good people!
Today I have an announcement that is even greater than the concept demo, because I just uploaded an actual Demo of Ballimals. You can now try the three different characters, but still on the same level as before.
To make this possible I have been hard at work. Since the last post I have implemented the new respawn system I mentioned, I have tested out making items, making new soundtracks, and doing general improvements and polish to the game. The game is still far from finished, but with the release of this demo you can at least get a better feel for what the game will be! Now let’s talk some more about the things I have done since last time:

Above you can see the new spawn system. At the beginning of each game and whenever you die, you are put in one of these cannons. You can steer it left and right to choose where to spawn, but you can’t choose when to spawn. There is a set timer for that. I have also done a bit of improvements to the UI since last time.

In this picture you can see how to items are portrayed in the game when they are ready to be picked up. I have so far implemented two items: a boxing glove and a landmine. Both used to knock other players off the stage. I am also thinking about adding a defensive items, making the player extremely heavy for a second or two.

Here you can see how the item is portrayed after you have picked it up and before you use it. Items are used with the Y-button.
Items are not included in the demo, and I got some feedback saying they liked games like these with simple controls. Therefore, I might put items in a separate gamemode in the full game.
I mentioned that I have been working on the game’s soundtrack. Previously I had been using Bosca Ceoil to make the music, because it was simple to use. I have now started using SunVox instead, and I think it gives better results. All songs except the character select have been replaced and you can listen to them here on the GameJolt page!
I have also been working on some more polishing of the game. I have for example updated the main menu to look like this:

The controls section is temporary, until I make a tutorial to properly explain the controls, as I understand it can be a bit confusing.
So, what are you waiting for? Download the demo and tell me what you think? If there are things you think I should fix or add please tell me so that I can make the game the best it can be!
