I decided to peek at this project again and see if I couldn’t clean up a few things and possibly make some more levels for fun.
Back in January I started redoing all new maps from the previous released version.
So today I went through and started cleaning up the code a little, adding ‘ignore’ flags to objects to reduce processing and hopefully speed things up on netbooks.
Although my main focus is still the voxel RPG, The Crawl, I felt some nostalgia for making this and decided to make a few more levels and possibly additional graphics.
There’s also a few features I wanted to add that were lost awhile back when a flashdrive that had the latest version(at the time) died. New features included a drop down attack and a basic starting of magic abilities.
A few things I fixed today involved refining the collision map and merging scripts between the enemy objects.
No clue on when I’ll be releasing an updated version, although I decided to keep it in game maker as I don’t want to spend my time making platform engine myself. I already have a dungeon crawler engine to work on.
One thing that Black Shadow needs that I can’t provided is some new/better music. I’d still like to go the MIDI route do to it’s small size and minimal processor use.
