We open with a big island surrounded by boats 3 years before the start of the story. Explosions come from the island and are seen by a boat presumably military where the captain explains they have to leave this to the ‘Hunters’. Hunters are basically this worlds Demon Slayers their job is to kill beasts and they also have a ranking system from S to E and their rank cannot change. We then cut to some low ranks being devoured by some beast ants until 3 S ranks pull up and one uses electricity one uses brute strength whilst the other uses healing to revive the low ranks and then a swarm of much stronger ants appear the S ranks get fired up and we then cut to another S rank with fire abilities who burns an entire row of the killer ants and commands his troops to commence the attack. After that we get an explanation on how this all started 10 years ago portals opened up and a few people had the power to fight what was on the other side called magic beast the people with the power to fight them are called Hunters and remember the ranking I mentioned earlier well that relates to are MC Jin woo and not in a good way 🥴.

This is were we meet our main character in the present day, unfortunately sits at E rank which awarded him the title ‘the weakest Hunter’ because he is 💀 he enters a construction site were a group of hunters are preparing for a raid and in that group of hunters is a woman called Johee who he’s previously worked with and they get into a conversation were Johee tells Jin woo she's concerned about him since he ended up in the hospital from his last raid and he says this happens a lot. Then they all gathered around this raids leader Mr Song and they head into the dungeon with Jin woo holding his crappy knife praying it won’t brake.

Before seeing the dungeon we see a chairman talking to his colleague about his meeting discussing dungeon breaks and this scene soon ends with them discussing essence stones stones that come from defeating magic beasts and how their making bank of them. We then see Jin woo finally collecting his first essence stone where he then gets stabbed by an E rank were he try’s to fight back but his knife breaks on impact with the beast, yet he’s swiftly saved by a no name and healed by Johee.

We soon cut back to the office where they explain that essence stone from high ranked magic beasts can be made into weapons but essence stones collected by beating a dungeon can be made into something else something better 100% renewable energy which is why hunters jobs are so important.

And yet again we see our group of hunters complete what the chairman’s talking about because they just took out the dungeons boss with Jin woo sits on the side whilst being healed by Johee who’s says she nearly couldn’t heal him and not to keep being a hunter just out of stubbornness. Once the group finish’s collecting the disappointing amount of loot they got from the dungeon, they spot a second tunnel!!, in this VERY rare scenario code says to leave the dungeon but many people in the group need the money so Mr Song puts it to a vote that ends in a 50-50 split until it comes to Jin woo’s vote and here we realise our MC’s pulled a Denji and is a pretty tight spot with his dad being missing his mums in the hospital and his sister can’t afford college so in his desperate situation he allowed the group to go through.

We then get to see another office and a new person on the phone looking for a hunter who could surpass someone called ‘Cha Hae-in’ the strongest hunter who it won’t take long for us to see in action.

And now’s the time to see her!. As we see a purse quickly snatched up by two men on a motorcycle and just as they think they’ve got away with it a woman does a flip/kart wheel over their bike and snatches the purse right out the thief’s hand and quite obviously was the legendary hunter Cha Hae-in and once she returns the purse to the woman she slips away from her crowd of fans.

And once we get back to our main group of hunters we see them in the same place they were before, walking through the tunnel leading to the next part of the double dungeon and it’s says they were walking through there for 40 minutes leaving them with 20 minutes until the dungeon closes. As they walk we see a conversation between Jin woo and Johee talking and Johee digging into him telling him telling him not to worry about if the hit he took was any higher up he would have dyed and she then asks him out 💀 but just before Jin woo can respond the group comes to a big set of double doors leading to the bosses chamber.

As the doors open the room lights up with blue flamed candles and 2 massive knight suits and they all quickly realise the room was crawling with statues but one stands out the most, a massive royal looking woman statue who stood above the rest. Jin woo admired it for a while until they moved onto a scripture they find on the wall but Johee still looks at the statue thinking something’s off about it and her suspicions were confirmed quickly as she turns to Jin woo and says she saw its eyes move. After the script is fully read the doors slam behind them causing one hunter to run for the doors trying to get out and the group looks on in horror as one of the dormant knight jumps to life and slices the hunter clean in half and then returns to his stoic position.

This causes Jin woo to rethink Johee’s former comment and turns to face the statue which to his horror, looks him dead in the eyes and Jin woo shouts “Everyone get down!!!!” And molten lazer beams explode from the statues eyes and they obliterate the environment and many other hunters. Unfortunately at this point the episode ends with Jin woo proclaiming “WERE ALL GONNA DIE!!!”

I’ll be honest I think I need to give it a bit more time to cook but the animation looks stellar and all the action we have seen looks great 👍 anyway this seems great see you when the next episode drops peace ✌️
