hello once again jorkers it has been...9 months!? oh jeez, i need to get working faster already...
HJP 2.0 is unfortunately very early in development still, but it has been planned out! it will feature much rebalancing, reworks, many new extras things, and even a couple new things in the base game..! i hope you kept your postgame savefiles, since you might be getting to use those superboss memories properly if you had!
there will also be a brand new scenario...but i'm not going to be saying exactly what it is yet. here's a battler that will be featured in it, though! have fun spinning that around in your head (((>

otherwise, i also have done work on the "Replay" sequel! all i can say for now is that it will be very different in the gameplay department, and that the members of the Transcendence Team have enjoyed its early alpha builds so far! and again, as a treat, here's a battler... you're all being spoiled rotten!!

with the actual game notes out of the way, i do have something important i'd like to share as well, that isn't quite a game itself...
I'm gonna make a fangame template at some point!!!!
thats right!! with the advent of Niji's Titilating Time Quest by Gene Simon, and some modding attempts in the Nuclei server (that were unfortunately shut down, for files spoiler reasons...) i've realized there's actually people that want to...make fangames!?
the problem is, so much of HJP is built ontop of systems i specifically had to build myself, and is nigh completely undocumented and so much is hardcoded that trying to copy from HJP itself is both a nightmare developmentally and discouraged for, again, spoiler reasons... so i've decided, clearly, the only way forward is to simply make a dedicated standalone template project that you can use as a base!!
the current plan is for it to contain:
all the scripts that complete the 'HJP' feel, such as my own custom animated battler script, modified YanFly scripts, the somewhat-finished version of Wavelength's battle log name/pronoun script, the custom battle portraits, and much more!
a very gimmicky set of placeholder party members, designed to demonstrate and be reference for more complicated skill and passive effects.
troops to demonstrate common effects, such as boss phase-switches or gimmicks, including some from HJP proper.
database entries for some HJP bosses and enemies, to use for reference for things such as check descriptions, enemy AI, and other note-tag related shenanigans.
a couple example memories, ranging from simple stat changes, passive states, and complex effects such as Grind Stone or Celestial Mochi.
an example 'global' map, ala what HJP uses to prevent pointless copying of all the wandering enemies, for example.
at least one general example map, showing the base of how to setup different types of boss events.
the simple 'temporary party member' system, again, made by me because i didn't like existing options. basically, you can mark an actor to automatically increase the party size when they join, and they'll automatically disappear when they die or the battle ends. this is how Redling Ship works!
the BP system, again again, made by me, basically just an extra temporary 50% MaxLP you can give to battlers. it's a little janky, but it certainly works well enough...
and of course, my personal bad habit enabling advice, such as 'dont be afraid to hardcode things if the scripts youre using suck by default' and 'use placeholders constantly all the time it makes it more cathartic when you do actually replace them with real assets even if sometimes you forget'
it will probably take a while to do, and unfortunately i'm currently personally preoccupied, so this and HJP 2.0 itself will be a while longer...but rest assured, i will get back in gear soon! (((>
oh and uh, sorry to you personally gene. i'm sure that announcement feels like a shot in the foot, but look on the brightside...i literally wouldn't have considered this unless you had started NTTQ, so you've done a net good. and you also get the distinct privilege of having an HJP fangame made before the dedicated fangame template, which is a powerful status to have, i think...
but yeah, that's all for now! have a good one, jorkers! and also thank you for voting on the previous poll. when the time comes, i hope you all can find what it actually affected in HJP 2.0! hehehe. (((>
