shmellooo! as you all can probably guess from the previous post, the game is not canned. while i expect motivation issues to continue as a problem with the project, things are currently moving ahead.
you probably wouldn't guess from the footage, but i actually made the decision (earlier this year) to rebuild the game from the ground up! this was a decision i made due to a number of reasons--the old codebase proved far too cumbersome to use, the whole scratch ai training debacle, and the prospect of optimizations from taking advantage of turbowarp exclusive features!
this does unfortunately mean that the game will not be releasing on scratch any longer. that was my primary goal with making the game the way i did, but with the aforementioned ai training fiasco, i just dont think i can bring myself to keep going on making the game scratch compatible. but that's that now.
keen eyes might also have noticed that the new enemy showcased in the previous video--mento--was, in fact, not one of the contest winners. one of the original contest winners (shift) was retroactively disqualified due to misconduct from the character's creator. as such, it only felt appropriate to give the 5th place spot to the runner-up.
it should be noted that this was something i did well over a year ago, i just neglected to talk about it until it became relevant because i didn't feel there was a need to. it should be noted that a few other entries were disqualified for similar outside misconduct, but none of the others affected the winning roster. and truthfully, if i were to re-rank all the submissions, i think mento would make top 5 anyways.
i can't say i'll just go answering everything here, but if any of you have any questions about the game or its current state, feel free to ask here and i might just answer!
