This was made in gamemaker 8, using pretty much only drag and drop. I had lost the files to this, but I've since come across a gamemaker decompiler, which allowed me to get the project files from the executable. I've been taking a trip down memory lane and exploring a bunch of old 3d gamemaker games, and after playing through this again, I had a bunch of things I wanted to fix now. Even if very few people play this, I'm gonna be happy that the game is in a comfortable state now.
The game was over 80 megabytes before. This is because the music in the game wasn't compressed properly so there was a single ambience track which took over half the filesize of the game. Having compressed the music, the size of the game is now 12 megabytes.
The default field of view in gamemaker 3d is abysmal. Totalbiscuit would have been screaming at it. Everything is so zoomed in and that was also the case for Two Towers. Untill Now!!! Should be a lot more comfortable to play now.
The difficulty, oh god the difficulty. It's way too hard and relies a lot on trial and error. This version does a lot to tone down the difficulty. The monster alert sound now gets louder the closer you get to the monster and it reaches far further out. This should provide a much better warning for how far the monsters are away from you. They also move slightly slower now and you have over twice the amount of stamina so you can actually outrun them now.
That's about it. Have fun playing my weird little game.
