first off, not many people know about pokemon XD gale of darkness so I will give a brief gameplay overview. XD gale of darkness is unique from other pokemon games for a few reasons. 1. every battle is a double battle. 2. there is a VERY limed amount of pokemon (most of which are shadow pokemon). 3. shadow pokemon, these are pokemon that can be taken from trainers (yes this game lets you steal certain pokemon from trainers). and finally this is a gen 3 game, meaning it has gen 3 mechanics, meaning this is before the physical special split now onto the guide

shortly after completing the annoyingly long intro,you are given the snag machine, this machine is what allows you to steal shadow pokemon from trainers. in the first area of the game, gateon port, there are 2 shadow pokemon, one of which being a shadow ledyba, catch that ledyba because it will be the first member of your team

then after finishing in gateon port and agate city you will be able to access the cyphir lab, this is the first major area with shadow pokemon and among them is a shadow spinarak, this along with ledyba will be your primary pokemon

after completing the ciphir lab you will unlock poke spots, allowing you to find wild pokemon, one of which is bug type, in the oaisis poke spot the rare encounter is a sirskit, this will be your next team member...unless you trade with duking. duking is the person who discovered the poke spots and will trade you his pokemon for the rare pokemon from each spot if you give him a sirskit he will give you a shuckle in exchange, it is wise to have both sirskit and shuckle on your team.

after unlocking poke spots and completing the section with the radio tower you will move on to phenac city, this is the second main shadow pokemon area and here you will be able to catch a shadow pineco, this will be your next team member

now if you played your cards right you should have a team of 5

--sirskit

--shuckle

--pineco

this will be your team for a while, in fact by the time you get a new team member they will most likely all be fully evolved

the next main shadow pokemon area is the key lair, the key lair has 4 shadow bug pokemon, those being paras,beedrill,butterfree,and venomoth. so from here on out your team will vary a bit

the final area with shadow pokemon is citidark isle, and here you will find the 2 best bug types in the game, pinsir,and scyther. both of these will be near mandatory members of your team

KEEP IN MIND

you will not be able to evolve the scyther, there is no trading with other players meaning that you cannot evolve the scyther into scizor
