So I am writing this post because of what I posted last night.
It all started when Gamejolt made a post about why the banning process takes time and lightly address the rampant drama on this site. I then proceeded to blame the FNAF and Undertale communities (rather unfairly I might add) for why the drama exists on this site and also blamed them for why my games have such a tepid amount of views and downloads, which I then made a very flamey post about.
I like to apologize to both the FNAF and Undertale communities for my actions and my accusatory language. I have had strong feelings about why I feel like my projects' analytics don't reflect the amount of time and effort put into my games.
I could put time into posting to the point of spam in the various communities I post in but due to the relative small size of them, my posts putting my games on blast wouldn't do a single thing. That and I feel like I have tarnished my reputation on this site by attacking two communities with a combined userbase of 600,000.
So gave it some thought and I think I might be leaving this site.
After Fursona's completion I will take a break from Gamejolt. If I feel it is necessary to start anew, then I will make a final post about me leaving, but for now it is only a consideration.
I have been on this site for many years and I have released many games, 29 as of right now. But with every release I get fewer and fewer people noticing. Part of it is a my extreme lack of self-marketing and part of it is the changing of the Gamejolt landscape. Gamejolt used to be a wild west of budding indie developers throwing things at the wall and seeing what stuck, now it is a social media platform that just happens to have games on it.
Thus this is the way I feel. I feel defeated.
So for now, Fursona will stay in active development and regular posts regarding this title will still be made. But I will have to rethink what to do next. I have also started posting some of my older titles on Itch.io as an alternative and if I do leave Gamejolt, that will be my place for future games.
To my followers and friends like @LUKELCS thank you and I love you all in a friendly but not creepy way. To those I put on blast in the past, I am sorry. To those who enjoy my games, please continue to play them and discuss them, review them if you must.
And I will see you next time.
