Hi there! This is a little explanation for those who are confused as to why I made this return to FN.
I made an attempt at creating 2 commercial games in the timespan since FN3, Somber and Mono, 2 Very different ends of the spectrum, Somber was overambitious and Mono was very minimalist.
Somber got cancelled due to impossibly long dev time, working on 90% of the game by myself and with it being such a complex game it ended up with me reworking it 3x and having about 10 min of mediocre gameplay after 4+ months of work. Which is not exactly ideal.
Mono got released on steam :D! And while I’m very happy and grateful it did, it kinda got drowned out and is left behind in the guts of the steam list. While people that play it seem to very much enjoy the premise. It doesn’t have a huge following. Combine that with the fact that I promised 2 more parts to it putting a weight on my shoulders was a bad decision. Meanwhile I’ve made the second story a shorter one and it’s being received with an either love or hate attitude depending because of the change in theme. The third story will be made in time, in conjunction with this game.
So… Why back to FNaF? Well Mono made me realize that I want to get more practice in, refine my techniques and learn new things to do in unreal engine. While also putting some of the unused knowledge and tools from somber to use in a new game.
I’m probably going to University for Game Design and Game Art in the coming years so I’ll probably wait to make any new big commercial projects until I’ve gotten a proper degree.
Of course in the meantime I’ll still be making smaller projects and maybe something paid once in a while. But first off I wanted to make something for the fans. The one thing people have been asking me to make constantly on every single video I upload and something I had in the back of my mind for a long time as well.
Final Nights 4
So yeah, here you go :), that’s why Final Nights is back.
