An Update!

Well, if you’re reading this then it means you’ve taken the time to hear me out on why the project is far behind schedule. So thank you for your understanding, and I hope that this can go some way to explaining the delays, and where the project stands currently.

I’m going to cover every interest point one by one so that you can find your question and its answer more easily.

*1. **Is this game dead?*

Firstly, let me make it clear that the project is NOT cancelled, and will never be. Whatever happens, the game will be released at some point. But keep in mind that I want to release the completed game as is – it’s unlikely that I will be supporting it with updates or bug fixes, so I’m doing my best to make sure that the game is fully ironed and pressed, ready for public release.

*2. **Why so many delays? Wasn’t MAY supposed to be the release date FFS?!*

Believe me; no one is more frustrated than me. Every time I get close to completing a script, sequence, mechanic, something goes wrong. I have overcome most of these, and the game is playable just about – some level design needs brushing up but the major issues are still the save mechanic, weapons, animation frame tweaking and scripting. As well as finding the time to finish the soundtrack, voice acting and other tiny bits and bobs that really add the polish to the atmosphere.

There are, however, other aspects at play other than just the game itself. Since the beginning of the summer, I have been wrangling with a temporary set up whilst my house is completely re-furbished and moved around. This has meant that I’ve had to cope without the working environment that I was waiting for (and that should have been finished in August). This set up is hardly ideal, and as a result I haven’t got much done over this period. I therefore used it as a hiatus to re-fuel the inspiration for finishing the game. During this time, I’ve learnt some new software (Cubase, 3DS Max & Fragmotion), which should help my future projects.

You can a glimpse of what I’ve been up to in my new Orchestral piece, on my Personal Youtube channel here

3. So realistically, when will the game be released?

Well it really depends on when I can get into my new studio, get everything set up and ready for making the final push. I have some play testers lined up, as well as some exclusive BETA let’s players (assuming they don’t think I’ve dropped off the face of the earth). So you can be looking out for those in around a month’s time.

Let me put it this way: By Winter, I hope to be in full swing in the studio making new, more challenging and exciting projects in a more diverse range of mediums. So whatever happens, the game will be out by then. So provisionally, I have said an Autumn release date, but in all probability, it could be earlier than that. Truth be told, I’m probably going to busting some random bug, go to playtest it, and suddenly realize that was the last one, and that’s ready for release. At that time, I’ll throw together an updates trailer (There have been some plot changes since the first story trailer) and release it.

So I hope I’ve addressed any questions that you have, and if any of you have any more, please comment below and I’ll answer any queries raised with a response.

Thank you for your continued support (620+ followers! :D Thanks!) and I can’t wait to see your thoughts and let’s plays when the game is released.

Tom.

Shoobies leave a sticky trail of mucus in their wake, which can impede movement for any creature that steps in it.

Enemies can also suddenly spawn through Realm Rifts. These Rift Spawns are going to be stronger than the ones wandering around. TBD on the enemies... #screenshotsaturday #godstear #madewithunity
