Welp.
It's been a WHOLE year since I released the first version of Depper Jar...
Time really flies, doesn't it?
I know I said the Test 1 Update (1.5.0) would be the last one before Test 2 release, It just so happens that I wanted to make something special for the first anniversary of the game and I put together a small update just for the occasion.
This is the last release before Test 2.
Anyways, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEPPER JAR!
NEW EXTRA MODES ...?!
Indeed! Every Test of the game is now including a simple, short but cool EXTRA mode!
This is Test 1's extra mode: CAKE MODE
Cake Mode, is new way to experience Test 1 in the fastest way posible, complete the game without touching a single enemy while getting as much cupcakes as you find!
Okay, being real, this is just a stupid idea I had for the update, people often speedrun the game so I made it an official mode now, enjoy! (This one's for you Sam)
QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS
Unlike the Test 1 Update (1.5.0) I wouldn't consider this a MAJOR update, is more like a bunch of tiny fixes, changes and additions to make this the definitive Test 1 experience!
1) Added new camera modes in the settings menu:
Basic camera
Smooth camera
Fancy camera
2) Better Invetory menu with unique icons for each item
3) Slight re-designs for the Battle UI
4) Even more unnoticeable re-designs for the in-game menu
5) A LOT of Misc changes pretty much everywhere
And that's it I guess...
I consider this the definitive version of Test 1, so if you haven't played any of the new updates or you got a friend who hasn't played the game, please, check it out!
The same thing goes with recording it, my PB on Cake mode is 02:18:40, so if you think you can beat it, record yourself and upload it so I may see it!
Most of these features were made while I was trying to work on Test 2 like the STAR mechanic which is implemented but with no use, the reasons why I couldn't work on Test 2 is because I lose my motivation and enter in this weird cycle where I gaslight myself into thinking I'm working on the game but I end up not doing anything at all:
And I also have this weird thought process of waiting until my ideas become definitive but they always end up completely different to what I had originally in mind, that summarizes what basically happened to me for a whole year.
I don't mind it though, I'm satisfied of how the outline turned out and I'm ready to work with it.
Okay, that should be it for now...
Thank you all for the amazing support I've been receving for the past 3 months, I still can not process how so many people are interested and connected with my little game.
Thank You all! and Happy Birthday Depper Jar!
It's actually kinda funny how Depper Jar got released one day after my birthday, so happy birthday to me too!
