Abandoned: Discovery Island Classic Deluxe is a brand new update to Abandoned: Discovery Island. Unlike the upcoming soft reboot, the gameplay will still remain similar to the original and the number of total characters will not be scaled down to a more traditional FNATI lineup, but that doesn't mean there won't be major changes. It'll bring a large number of improvements and additions to the game to make it a more complete, more refined experience.
Deluxe inherits the changes made in the April Fools' New Super Abandoned: Discovery Island update (without most of the sillier additions) in addition to a large number of new additions and refinements. Every character has been updated in some way, and the game balance should feel a lot better while still retaining the more familiar elements that you've come to expect from A:DI 1.X.
I won't go into too many details, as not to ruin too many of the surprises, but I will reveal some of the many changes that are being made:
There will be three difficulty levels.
Standard Mode is the normal mode, with the overall gameplay mixed up a bit compared to the original. Less suits will be active than the original, but a few new faces will show up.
Hard Mode is a more difficult variation where suits that aren't typically active show up, and others may show up early.
Characters that were originally easter eggs in the original FNATI versions and standard enemies in A:DI have regained their original distinction, and a few other suits have gained it. They won't normally be active in these modes, but will have a rare chance of showing up. These include:
Suicide Mouse
Photo-Negative Minnie (Normal mode only)
Pluto
Classic Oswald (Normal only)
Two new characters (TBA)
The True Mickey ending will also be disabled in these modes.
Classic Mode will retain the gameplay changes from the other modes, but use the original lineup of active characters in A:DI 1.X. This includes characters that would normally be treated as easter eggs.
As stated above, all characters will receive significant changes to at least some elements of their AI, most of them minor. Among the more significant changes:
Watching suits on the cameras will influence them in some sort of way, slowing down most of them - this encourages camera usage, especially on later nights.
Kill timers will be reworked.
Instakills will no longer happen.
Characters that will receive significant AI changes, but still act mostly like how they did in NSA:DI include:
Disembodied
Acephalous
Suicide Mouse
Classic Oswald
Undying
Corruptus
Shade PN Mickey
Shade PN Minnie
Characters that will receive major overhauls compared to NSA:DI include:
Pluto
Slester
Willy
Daisy
True Mickey
Shade Face
Shade Suicide Mouse
More suits will be able to be befriended on the True Mickey ending route.
Changes will be revealed over time.
New enemies will be present, including characters that were scrapped from A:DI 1.1.
Details on them will be revealed very soon, with details on one of them coming later today.
Some of them will be exclusive to bonus nights.
Night 3 will now end at 6 AM, and the Caverns will receive a revamp with more content.
Night 6 will no longer have its own button on the main menu. It'll accessed from the Continue option instead.
Once you beat the game once, you will be able to revisit the previous nights on whichever difficulty you played on at any time, from the Extras menu.
Your progress won't be saved in this mode, so you'll still have to replay the game to get the other endings.
The True Mickey variation of Night 6 is unlocked separately.
Bonus nights that were cut from the game will finally make their debut.
Filling that mysterious gap between Night 6 and Night 8 (the Custom Night) is Night 7. Think of it as the equivalent of Night 6 in any other FNAF fangame.
The Infinite Night, as the name implies, is an endless night. The difficulty will gradually ramp up as the night continues. How long can you last?
The Custom Night has received some changes.
Certain characters will now be locked from the custom night. They can be unlocked through various means, like clearing the game on different difficulties or beating some of the brand new...
Challenges are preset Custom Nights with varying difficulties and different optimal strategies. Some of these will give you bonus unlocks. See if you can beat all of them!
A few characters will have toggles for alternate behaviors, e.g. easter egg characters.
Boss characters can now be used during the Custom Night.
Camera reset times will be adjusted.
Night start tips will be more cryptic; the release will feature new phone calls to replace some of them.
Cam 11 has been redesigned to fit in with the other rooms and its A:DI theme.
The story will still retain many of the elements from A:DI, but with some significant changes. I'll give a few bits here and there, but you'll have to play the game to find out the rest.
More additions will be revealed leading up to the game's release
As the save system had to be reworked to allow many of the new additions and changes, saves from the original A:DI will NOT be compatible with Deluxe. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Abandoned: Discovery Island Classic Deluxe will release on December 1st, 2021, the 7th anniversary of APPSvNN's (AnArt1996's) original Five Nights at Treasure Island demo. The game page will be going up later today with screenshots and more details, so keep an eye out.
Some of you may also be wondering what will happen to this page. Simple answer: it won't be going anywhere! There will be a few changes, though. R1 will be moved from this main page to the old builds page sometime later today, though I'll still leave the credits here. Once Deluxe is released, NSA:DI will be archived there as well. As for the original A:DI Classic itself, it'll receive one last update sometime in the future to finally address 1.1's critical bugs. After that, the page will no longer receive any further updates.
To all fans of Abandoned: Discovery Island/Found, thank you for sticking around. Making Abandoned: Discovery Island may not be my proudest accomplishment, but the fact that there's people out there that still enjoy the game to this day in spite of its flaws is incredibly encouraging. And remember, I couldn't have made A:DI or R1 (as unfinished as it is) without the help of Abandoned-Found Studios' former members. Support them too! (If any of you are reading this, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! dm me if you've gone uncredited for R1 by the way)
Have a fantastic day, and see you soon.
